Arrested ... Ryan Thomson

EXCLUSIVEBy DAVID WYNNPublished: 6 minutes ago

FOOTY ace Ryan Thomson was grilled by Dunfermline boss Jim Jefferies yesterday over an alleged scrap with a taxi driver — before being arrested.

Thomson, 21, was summoned for crisis talks with his Pars gaffer after footage of the bust-up was posted on the internet.

He was later charged by police in connection with assault claims.

Last night the promising midfielder's dad William told how his son was called to East End Park stadium by Jefferies.

At their family home in tough Pollok, Glasgow, he said: "I haven't spoken to Ryan about it yet. He's away in to see his manager."

William also insisted his lad is a "good boy".

He said: "This is a bad area and I've done my best to bring him up.

"Ryan's doing well just now, he's been man-of-the match the past two weeks."

Online ... clip of the alleged incident

We told how a clip of the alleged incident on August 12 has been viewed on the net. The alleged encounter on Glasgow's southside was uploaded after it was captured on camera. Bosses at Dunfermline — who were relegated from the SPL last season — confirmed they are looking into the claims.

A spokesman said: "We are awaiting full details before any statement can be issued."

Thomson was charged in connection with the incident along with a 21-year-old woman after both were interviewed by officers.

Strathclyde Police said last night: "A 21-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman have been arrested in connection with an alleged assault."

In April, Scotland striker David Goodwillie admitted assaulting a man during a city centre street fight that was captured on camera.

The former Dundee United star, now at Blackburn, unleashed a flurry of punches to John Friel's head and body and kicked him during the attack in Glasgow city centre. The assault, in November 2010, came moments after thug Friel knocked 23-year-old Goodwillie's then Dundee United team-mate Danny Swanson unconscious.

Goodwillie had been due to stand trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court but instead admitted assault and was given community service.

In June, ex-Hibs star Garry O'Connor, 29, was ordered to perform 200 hours of community service for possessing cocaine and obstructing police.

Police saw him snorting drugs in a car in Edinburgh.

The striker was found guilty after a trial.

Daylight thuggery: Video shows ned's vicious assault on taxi driver

THE footage shows the red-haired ned wrestling the innocent Glasgow cabbie to the ground and repeatedly trying to punch and kick him.

The footage shows the red-haired ned wrestling the innocent Glasgow cabbie to the ground and repeatedly trying to punch and kick him.

It is thought the driver was forced to stop because of a fight inside his vehicle. The thug’s friends try to stop him. But at one stage, he gets through, throwing a steady stream of punches at the stunned driver.

Luckily, the attacker seems to be so high on drink or drugs that many of his punches fail to land.

But the video, posted on the internet on Sunday, shows him wrestling his victim to the ground. After his pals drag him off, he confronts the driver again and tries to hit him.

And he still isn’t finished as the cabbie flees, pulling his top off and aiming a punch at the windscreen. He is sent spinning to the ground as the car speeds off.

The person who filmed the video says the incident happened on August 12.

They posted it on the LiveLeak site, which usually features clips of warzone scenes or car crashes.

The video ends by saying “Shot on location in Glasgow”. It is thought the incident happened in the Paisley Road West area in the south side.

No complaint has been made but Strathclyde Police are probing the video. A spokeswoman said they

were studying the footage to identify those involved. They are eager to contact the taxi driver.

If you are the cabbie, or you know the identity of the thug, ring our newsdesk on 0141 309 3251.
