Carsons Dog 9,878
There's been a lot of discussion about having a hotel at Ibrox and the commercial benefits of such a schemeRecently people have suggested building one either over the megastore or on the site of the Edmiston ClubHow about buying The Swallow as this is a purpose built hotel a stones throw from the stadium?OK it's in need of a lick of paint but it would be a far cheaper option than starting from scratch with a new buildI'm think the place is currently in administration so could possibly be obtained at the right price
cameron1873 525
Not for me especially if it mean attaching it to ibrox I would be strongly against that.I also don't see how this is going too be worth it. Is there any evidence to say that this is going to make us good money

Is there any evidence to say that this is going to make us good moneyThe Swallow is 500 yards from IbroxAs far as money making goes it seems to work for Chelsea and other teams like Reading although I'm guessing Reading get rent for the hotel there On the other hand I think the one at Kilmarnock is struggling but then again who wants to go there
Albertz123 598
Good idea They could offer match ticket, stadium tour, dinner in the Argyll Suite and an over night stay. I'd even be interested and I only stay a few miles from Ibrox.

I stayed in the Bolton one last season. I think it is a really good idea mate. It allows you to expand your cooperate side as well as offer match day packages for those traveling from further afield. The only down side I would assume would be business when there is no games on but with it being as close to the motorway and subway I assume you could market it for other guests. The Judderman 175
I stay in the swallow quite a lot and the location to everything for a home game is fantastic. all the pubs are within crawling distance and if you buy stuff from Ibrox you can quickly drop it at your room so youre not carrying it round all day

RFC Eagle 4,888
I was talking to someone last year and they were saying that Glasgow has a dearth of beds as far as hotels are concerned. With the building of the Clyde Auditorium, the Commonwealth Games and the attempt to make Glasgow the venue for large conferences in Scotland a new hotel on the site of the Albion Car Park (which I think CG has spoken about?) makes sense. Buying the Swallow may be a short term solution but whats needed is a business orientated hotel that attracts users during the week and that can be turned into a supporters hotel on matchdays. Maybe even start using Ibrox as a venue for Conferences with extra facilities at the hotel. Maximising income is whats needed at this time and into the future. TunnyLoyal 1,136
Turning the swallow into a Rangers hotel could be a fantastic idea. Discounts for season ticket holders etc
Bluepeter9 5,167
I am not sure the swallow is the correct answer but a hotel would be a great addition to the corporate and match day hospitality side (and it is also close to the Airport) - I wonder if buying Edminston house for the land and building a largish hotel there - close to the Airport, subway, motorway and next door to Ibrox. There is also all the council land across the street from Ibrox (Casino anyone ?)
Sweetheart 8,458
A Rangers package holiday could be done for all international bears, It would also make money in the commonwealth games with people looking for accomadation.
Non_Sucumbi 876
The Skydome in Toronto now owned by Rogers has a great hotel with rooms facing the playing field. You can rent a room, get a group together, take a sh*t load of beer and pizzas and watch the game in comfort. Not sure if it would be physically possible to to anything similar at Ibrox. Dutchy 1,200
If this is to go ahead, I'd go down the Swallow way. I wouldn't like a hotel attached to the stadium. As suggested, we could get it at a good price and spend the savings on a total refurbishment, into a classy joint. j1mgg 3,766
We stay in the one attached to carrow road if we are working in Norwich, it is run but holiday inn or a company like that. There is too many decent hotels already in Glasgow city centre for it to work as a place for business visitors to stay.
The Educator 1,572
The building of a hotel would be a big money spinner. Have you ever tried to get a hotel in Manchester when Man Utd is playing at home? Furthermore when the idea of a museum was posted no the forum recently a point was made about security, this would help solve both problems if they were to be built as one building including conference and leisure facilities for the guests. The purchase of the Swallow could be the first stage in this as it would allow for finance to be generated helping offset the cost of the new development. Bothwellbear 1,392
The whole area would need to be attractive before a hotel would work there. Sure you would get supporters staying around match days but who in their right mind would want to stay in Ibrox as a weekend away or whatever. Its a non starter without massive investment in the whole area, which will not happen in the present economic turmoil.
Silver Fox 167
Would be comforting for the Bear guests to know that no Tarrier nappers had rested on their pillow.
CanadianBacon 2,088
It would make more sense to build a hotel/leisure complex at the M8 side of the Albion car park - highly visible and near to airport.Edmiston House - let's get that back to being a supporters venue. muff8 15
Livingston have a hotel attatched to the stadium. I think I could b a good idea. I think edminston house has to b for a ticket office, the current one not up to scratch
