I recently received some clarification regarding elections. If you wish to be considered for the board you have to provide a written submission detailing your credentials etc to which the current board will let you know if they think you are suitable to STAND for election.

"fk me", I thought, I've been employed these last 30 years that could well have me precluded.

If the RST spent less time involving themselves in petty politics, which are nothing to do with their remit, and more time examining how to encourage people with true business experience, into their ranks, they may well be taken a tad more seriously.

Less time sucking up to paul murray and his fabled blazer and more time taken to maybe understand why the group is considered far too homogenous would, I think, bring great benefits.

When I looked yesterday the usual suspects were raging over Green.

I subsequently saw your greatest friend post a call for some form of fan unity, via the rst, to seize the day.

Weirdly his message never made it onto RM or VB so I have no idea what form of unity he was referring to.

The last thing The RST should be doing is getting itself involved in internecine politics yet it is all it seems to focus on.

Why fill in a form if they are not going to review your suitability? The current board want the form before allowing you to stand for election.

or to put it another way you cannot turn up, on the day of election, stand up and tell all and sundry why they should vote for you and be elected.

Any member can stand for election. If you are proposed and seconded then the board can't stop you standing even if they wanted to. The written submission is a pen portrait to give the voting members an idea of who the candidate is and what they can offer. Fill out a form and I'll propose you and get someone to second you. You can then see for yourself that no member is excluded from standing in the election

the confusion is that a rst board member wrote to me telling me id have to fill out a form for them to look at and I thought you meant he disclosed what he had PM'd me.

I see another rst person, post 14, says they cant stop you standing even if you don't send in the form?
