He was immense for us, with his amazing telescopic left leg in sliding tackles. One of my all time favourites.Biggest disappointment in that area, mainly through injury, was Jonas Thern. During Advocaat's first couple of seasons he was fantastic and allowed the likes of Gio, Albertz and Reyna to bomb forward.Never understood why he was moved forward when on his days he was one of the best players in that position in Europe. Can't be denied he went on to be a worldclass DM and he did play for us. My other suggestions were more inkeeping with the OP's point though.
