Bothwellbear 1,392
Rangers youth supremo Jimmy Sinclair tells Jamie Ness and Rhys McCabe: You should have stayed at Ibrox 13 Dec 2013 09:37 SINCLAIR reckons the duo, who moved to clubs down south after Rangers plunged into administration, would have achieved so much more more if they had stayed at Ibrox. Rhys McCabeRANGERS head of youth Jimmy Sinclair has told walkaway stars Jamie Ness and Rhys McCabe they should have stayed and become legends. As he celebrates Lewis Macleod achieving 50 first-team matches, the Youth Academy Director is bitterly disappointed Ness and McCabe are not hitting the same milestone.Since both left in summer 2012 Ness has had just one substitute’s appearance for Stoke, while McCabe has had just two minutes of first-team action for Sheffield Wednesday in the past four months.Sinclair said: “I’m fairly certain if Ness and McCabe had stayed they would have been in the first team and stayed there.“I’m still disappointed they left when they did. I had faith in these young players and hoped they would look at the situation as a great opportunity to embed themselves in a Rangers team.“They had the chance to become major names among the Rangers support. But they made their decisions for whatever reasons.“Maybe these kids will look back and feel they made the wrong decision – but maybe not. I don’t know because I don’t converse with them any more.”In contrast Macleod has flourished in the Rangers team and has held on to his place despite the arrival of more experienced and established players. The club’s financial woes and 12-monthregistration embargo forced Ally McCoist to dip into the Academy and blood nine players. But it is a source of pride to Sinclair and his staff that Macleod is thriving while Andy Little, Fraser Aird and Robbie Crawford are all key members of the squad.Around 40 per cent of the current Rangers first team squad are Academygraduates and Sinclair said: “I feel that if administration hadn’t happened Lewis and Fraser would have made it anyway.“I don’t think administration has made Rangers any less attractive to younger players. The young lads will be ready to play in the top flight as long as they continue to grow and gain experience so it holds no fears for us.”

Dutchy 1,200
Well he's right in so many ways, but if the blighters don't want to stay, unlike Wallace, they're entitled to bugger off.Their choice!
WilliamFyfe 1,438
I agree with they should have stayed but they can get to fuck and rot away down South.
ForeverBlue_Since91 2,895
Didn't know it was that bad. I thought mcCabe got a game for sheff wed, turns out he's only had 2 minutes this season. And i forgot all about Ness i think he should just retire as he's never going get rid of injuries. Drunk and disorderly. 14,737
"Around 40 per cent of the current Rangers first team squad are Academygraduates ." As much as that? They aren't all playing regularly obviously, but a refreshing statistic.
ForeverBlue_Since91 2,895
We all know the Scottish game is shite right now but, at least they would be playing in front of 45k fans every 2nd week. Training in one of the best training grounds in Britian and winning trophies and medals and making a name for themselves as they do it.What is he ever going to achieve at Sheff wed? The league is solid so they are never going to get into the prem and there alot of better players down south so it's going to be 100 times harder to get a game every week. These players if they stayed at Rangers would also have a chance at playing in the champions league they will never get that down south unless they go to Arsenal, Chelsea, Man U, Man City, and even Spurs. Now they will always be at sheff wed's level in the relegation zone. But they were all told this by Rangers fans, and ex Rangers players did they listen? TravelingWilBEARy 4,319
I had high hopes for Ness, I thought he had the potential to be a fantastic player for us. It was clearly the wrong decision for him to move as he's finding out.I don't have any ill will towards him and the rest though. I'd rather remember the good times. gordonb23 99
Fuck them.Well done to Lewis MacLeod for making it to 50 games. I wonder if Jamie Ness will be able to do that in his whole career.
gmcf 34,705
He's right . Barring injury , they both could have been first team regulars. I do think Rangers lost out there , but I think Ness and McCabe lost the most.
Brian Fantana 28,894
Jimmy Sinclair should be telling us why he's failing to bring through more youth given the facilities at his disposal instead of having a dig at 2 ex players who're probably happy enough picking up a better wage before they end up at Aberdeen in a few years. I don't give a fuck about those who've left, I am giving a fuck that the youth are failing in terms of how many are up to standard to make it. Moody Blue Legend 62,075
Disappointment we never got to see Ness progress (barring injury). I thought he looked the real deal when he got the ball at his feet. Elegant, head up, chest out, slightly arrogant even.
