SunSport - Ashley plans managerial change

thought this was worth sharing, probably more out of hope than expectation (tu)

SunSport understands Mike Ashley is pushing for a managerial reshuffle at Ibrox which would see Ally McCoist losing his current job.

The Englishman has sent feelers out to former Rangers manager Alex McLeish and former player Stuart McCall about fronting a new management team at Ibrox. McLeish, currently manager at Belgian side Genk, would act as Director of Football with former Motherwell manager McCall taking up the role of Head Coach.

Ashley has voiced his disappointment over the club's performances despite the large wage bill held by the squad. He feels the lack of spark on the pitch will heavily affect the brand, forecasting poor merchandise sales even if they did earn promotion back to the Scottish Premiership. He has instructed Ibrox advisor Derek Llambias to get the majority of the board on side with his plan as he looks to tighten his grip further on the Scottish Championship side. Ashley hopes to relieve McCoist of managerial duties and have the board offer him a seat at the table.

Dear God, the last manager who finished behind Hearts to help us try to avoid finishing below Hearts

he also won us 7 trophies in 4 and a half years, including a domestic treble, and also got us to the last 16 of the Champions League.

but of course, what does that matter.....

Dear God, the last manager who finished behind Hearts to help us try to avoid finishing below Hearts and a guy who struggled with the pressure of managing Motherwell, super.

Where did you hear that he left because he couldn't handle the pressure? As far as I knew he left because he had no answers after overachieving the previous 3 seasons. Eck done a decent job whilst downsizing like fuck, just what we need. Both know rangers standards too.

And lost 7 OF games in a row, went ten games without a win.... Gets an easy ride on here from people who would slate anyone else with such a record.

To be fair, about this article, Ashley doesn't take kindly to lies being printed about him.

A couple of guys on the Sunday Supplement have said as much, being banned from Newcastle's press conferences etc for lies being printed, and or less.

So I can't see them doing it just to fill space.
