there'sonlyoneamoruso 1,724
From the Mail/Record: WE can reveal the managers have been left raging that BT Sport ave been allowed to move the crucial showdowns. THE Championship’s play-off clubs are on a collision course with the SPFL after being sold down the river for their biggest games of the season for the sake of TV. Falkirk , Hibs and Raith Rovers already face a potentially brutal schedule to get to the final against the Premiership’s second bottom club. However MailSport can reveal their managers have been left fuming that league bosses have allowed BT Sport to move next week’s semi-final games forward to Tuesday and Friday, meaning the winner of this week’s third/fourth clash will face four games in nine days - five in 12 including this afternoon’s final round of regular season matches. And there is NO extra payment involved - the games are part of the current broadcast package. Falkirk face Morton and Hibs play Queen of the South today in the battle for second, with Hibs needing a three-goal swing to topple the Bairns from second spot and give themselves a nine-day break. Rovers are assured of fourth already and will host one of them at Starks Park on Wednesday night. MailSport also understands if Hibs end up third, their home match with Raith will have to be moved to a 12.30 kick-off on the Saturday on police instructions, to avoid a clash with Hearts’ home league game on the same day. Rovers boss Ray McKinnon sighed: “It’s already weighted heavily in favour of the Premiership team but this doubles their advantage. “It’s so difficult to play those high-tempo games back to back to back but when they’re shortening your recovery time it just makes it so much more difficult. “It makes it doubly difficult for us to prepare our teams, to get through the play offs and win it. “Look at the Rangers games last year, they were dead on their feat at the end of six games. “It’s not ideal for any team, when you have this number of games, with the pressure on them the way it is. “And if it’s Hibs, with the addition of a Scottish Cup Final to play as well, it makes it nigh on impossible when you get to that final for any of us to be going in there fresh.” Falkirk boss Peter Houston - in pole position to avoid the quarter final games - was just as angry. He said: “It’s nonsense - we’re already getting one less day to get your body ready because today’s game was moved to put St Mirren v Rangers on TV. “So Monday will be recovery, Tuesday is shape and picking team then game Wednesday. Thursday to recover, Friday to shape up team again then Saturday into battle. ‘Then all over again with two days in between. It’s not weighted in the Championship sides’ favour is it? Certainly if you’re third or fourth. But we’ll have to stand up to it. “I spoke to our boys about the last time two years ago. They beat Queen of the South over two legs in extra time. What Will Vaulks said was after the first game against Hamilton, the draw, going into the second game, their bodies were dropping.” Hibs boss Alan Stubbs refused to comment, but it’s understood he’s privately seething at yet another obstacle in his side’s way as they bid to make history. They could end up with eight games in 23 days. Easter Road chief executive Leeann Dempster is also believed to be unhappy at the SPFL but would only say: “We’ll play the games and the schedule as they come to us, and then when it’s done, we’ll review it and ask the appropriate questions.” I hope Hibs do get to the final now, they'll be wrecked and we should pummel them in the SC final.
