 They've made a right cunt of this.

From STV

However, Rangers have paid for Hardie's early return and it is understood Raith were unwilling to do likewise for their player.

STV understands that as Hardie will be released by the governing body at his club's request, there is no rule breach.

@STVGrant: This has come down to money. Rangers can pay to fly Hardie home, Raith can't for Wighton. http://t.co/hOlAn14koQ

Fucking ridiculous. They can't afford a flight and we're to blame?! They could have just asked us to chip in and I'm sure we'd have been very accommodating.

Raith Rovers turned down the chance to have Craig Wighton released early from Scotland Under-19 duty due to finance.

The Championship club are unhappy that his international team-mate, Rangers' Ryan Hardie, was given permission to return home ahead of schedule from a trip to Bulgaria.

Raith face Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday but will be without the services of on-loan Wighton, who will remain abroad for Friday's international friendly.

Rangers assistant manager asked for Hardie to be released early prior to Scotland's flight on Monday, a request which was granted by the Scottish FA.

At that point, STV understands Raith were then approached and offered the opportunity for Wighton to also be released early.

However, Rangers have paid for Hardie's early return and it is understood Raith were unwilling to do likewise for their player.

In a statement on Thursday, Raith said that the compliance officer should investigate the early release of the Rangers player, saying it breaches the Scottish FA's rules.

"Ahead of Saturday’s Ladbrokes Championship match versus Rangers at Ibrox, Raith Rovers FC has today asked the Scottish FA’s compliance officer to consider whether he agrees that Rangers FC, through David Weir, have breached SFA Articles

and Rules by requesting and securing the early release of its player Ryan Hardie from international duty with Scotland Under 19s in Bulgaria, for the sole reason that he is then available to play against Raith Rovers," their statement read.

"Raith Rovers FC also has an important player in the same Under 19 squad, first team regular Craig Wighton, and Craig remains in Bulgaria and available for selection for Friday evening’s national representative match.

"He will fly home with the rest of the squad on Saturday afternoon. We are delighted that Craig is receiving international recognition, and whilst we are without his services for the crucial match with Rangers, our loss is Scotland’s gain.

"Naturally we are concerned that if there is any breach of Article 82.1 and Rules 56 & 57, this would – in these circumstances – result in an unfairness in terms of players available for selection for Saturday’s match, which is to our disadvantage."

The Scottish FA's rules do say that if a player "refuses without good and sufficient cause to comply with the arrangements for playing in such match or fails to attend such match, the Judicial Panel may find him to have been in breach" of their

regulations.

Similarly, they state that any member of team staff "who may be found to have encouraged or instigated or caused such player so to refuse shall likewise be deemed to be in breach."

STV understands that as Hardie will be released by the governing body at his club's request, there is no rule breach.

The regulation would only be enforced if the player did not report for international duty.

Hardie, 18, has made one appearance for Mark Warburton's men this season, appearing as a substitute in the 5-0 League Cup win over Airdrieonians.

We paid for it? But, but Rangers don't have any money... :pipe:

We should have flown the Raith player home to show there was no hard feelings for their previous chairman being a poisonous bastard.

We should do the Dambusters on Saturday to wind their fans up.

There were no Raith bombers in the air.

Hope we absolutely hammer these clowns. Rancid wee club whose hatred of Rangers again shine through. If it was such a problem why don't they recall their player?

One team is due an absolute pasting from us and now I hope more than ever its these small time clowns.
