Rangers have the money... but we won't pay over the odds, insists boss Mark Warburton

@Jimbeamjunior Whatever keeps you happy mate.

I was pointing out before people criticising the board for not backing MW, when they have, and those who wanted us to 'stop fucking about' and just throw our money at other clubs. Just because we have money to spend, doesn't mean we should be flippant with it.

Looks like the board, along with the advice of MW, McParland etc, have negotiated a deal that they consider value for Rangers. Good news.

no we didnt want to just "throw money at clubs" we wanted the club to pay the rate that was asked for by a team who owned a player that we were extremely interested in

imagine some other team came in on friday and aid to St Johnstone "here's what you guys want for o'halloran" we'd have lost a player that warburton clearly wants all because the board were fucking at it with regards to bidding

how many, including yourself, said warburton clearly doesnt value o'halloran at his asking price and that he is to be trusted, now it seems warburton did value him higher than what we offered and it could very well have taken his intervention at the board meeting (conjecture i know) for the board to finally fucking stump up the money

other teams will now look at this saga and go "if rangers want our player we simply dont cave and they will either stump up or we keep the player"

Haha what a load of pish.

I'm glad you're not in charge of my finances. We should never just 'pay the rate they ask for' if we don't value them at that level.

And as for the 'Warburton board room meeting intervention' fairy tale. :power_of_anguish:

Rubbish. This is reductionism at its worst. You have no idea what the terms of the deal involved; or perhaps you do and you would like to enlighten us? You talk sense mostly, but not this time.

Mibbes, but in this case it was them that caved, they wanted their wedge upfront and we wanted some element of addons, seems we've paid 300k upfront with add ons , seems we were correct and successful in our strategy.

Isnt the part in bold exactly how every club deals with transfers with any other club?

Are you suggesting that Rangers should have done something radical, like say putting in a bid, being rejected and then hiring a gang of mercenaries to go and abduct the opposing chairmans children and hold them hostage until they agree to a lesser fee?

Cheer up mate ffs. the constant negative shit getting rolled out  here on a daily  basis by some posters is getting boring as fuck, we've just signed  a solid pro who will add pace and drive to our attack for a modest fee, our squad is looking decent we have the two AS lads coming in during the summer, we have the best management team in the country by a fucking mile and the board are doing their best to sort out the minefield they inherited, and even starting to hit back at our enemy's in the media.  This club is only going in one direction, onwards and upwards.  :D
