True, footballs more about athleticism and fitness these days, not technique and intelligence. If you look back to the teams we had in 2000-2003, the world class players moved about like 40 year olds, and looked about that age too. And that was no exception, the Bayern Munichs and PSV's all had balding, middle-aged looking men bossing their midfields. Now it's all about the treadmills and vegan diets, and saying the word 'obviously' in post-match interviews.

It's hard for me to totally disagree. There is a degree of truth that your average football fan is a dullard. Then you've got the not so small percentage of no hopers.

There are all sorts of types of 'intelligence' and football depends on the more 'spacial' form, not the academic.

It's totally unfair though to club everyone together in one group because they're enjoying a common interest.

Just because there's some idiots that go to football, doesn't make them all idiots.
