Borna Barisic

Probably the most underrated and underappreciated player in the squad. He is far from perfect but his numbers are excellent going forward. People need to be careful what they wish for because for all the money spent on Ridvan he isn't the answer. Same for the other 2 mentioned in this thread. We all seen a defence without Goldson last season and it wasn't pretty. Then there's the numbers Tav provides us too.

We may not have been particularly successful in recent history but there's a reason those 3 have been mainstays over multiple managers and it's because they're good players and the best we can attract playing in Scotland with the finances available. It's the players who can't nail down a starting slot that should worry us.

Nothing against Barisic or the other two. They are mostly on the decline. A change is needed. Replacements can be found if proper diligence is done imo.

Very true, let's keep the bones of a back 4 that have been so successful in the 5 years together

Its like we've never improved on a player before,

If the Zagreb manager is any good, offer them a swap.

Just have to hope that the medical isn’t too thorough and they overlook the absence of a heart or a spine.

Would honestly accept Nectar points for him right now.

Cornerstone of The Horseshoe and he can go anytime.

The fact Sterling was a better choice at LB than Ridvan highlights how inept the club has been in it's recruitment, Barisic has been here fice years and absolutely no-one has came close to challenging him for his position, he's probably been our best outfield player so far this season.

I get everything is doom and gloom right now and rightly so but losing him without suitable back up at this stage would be a disaster, despite the doom we're only 4 League games into a season, allowong him to leave right now would be throwing a grenade at it.

I'd be glad to see the back of him mate but not right now when we don't have a replacement.

Current possibilities  - Yilmaz, Devine, Sterling, 3 at the back.

If his transfer can help to fund Beale's compo, then that'll be Borna's biggest contribution to the club.

The jury is still out on Yilmaz. I don't rate Davies, he also isn't a left back and sterling is a right back who we haven't seen enough of yet.

If Bassey had stayed Borna wouldn’t be able to nail down a starting slot.

When Yilmaz is fit Borna wouldn’t be able to nail down a starting slot.

Borna has been really lucky at our club. He should have been long gone

We've tried to bring in other centre-backs. We've spent good money on a young Turkish left-back. It isn't that easy. We haven't tried to replace Tavernier but I can't imagine his numbers would be easy to replace either. The scum spent 4 million on their Argentinian left-back last season and he can't nail down a place in their team either.

Almost guaranteed success on players is outwith our budget. £4M or £5M doesn't get you close to what it used to.

I'd rather we improved on our weaker players, the ones who don't really contribute. The 3 players you mentioned all have weaknesses but they're far from our weaker players. That's the problem.
