PEDRO CAIXINHA and his players haven't had much of a break this summer, with pre-season training already into its second week.

The Portuguese has been busy in the transfer market as he looks to re-shape his squad, bringing in five new players with further arrivals in the pipeline.

It may feel like the curtain has only just fallen on the 2016/17 season, but the Gerswill be back in competitive action before the end of the month as they begin their long and perilous path through the Europa League qualifiers.

We started off home to Hamilton last year did we not mate ? ?

Champions are always at home first game and the other is away.

Was exceptional circumstances last season as both us and them had won their respective league titles.

Will be back to normal this season I imagine.

2017 Nuneaton Tournament: Pre-season tournament fixtures and schedule

Jon Wilde in UK Football 12 Jun 2017

Liverpool and Rangers are among the star attractions at the six-team Nuneaton Tournament taking place on the weekend of July 29-30.

###FREEBET2###This pre-season competition takes place at the Coombe Abbey Arena, home of National League North club Nuneaton Town, with three matches taking place on each day.

The Liverpool team will be an under-23 side coached by Neil Critchley, and their first match will be against League Two club Coventry City on the Saturday kicking off at 14:30 BST – which means it is the second of the three games that day.

The following day, with the same starting time, the Reds will be up against Jong PSV who, as the name suggests, are the reserve team of PSV Eindhoven.

The Dutch club play in the second tier of the Netherlands league, finished mid-table in the 2016-17 season and are coached by Pascal Jansen.

Besides Liverpool, Rangers – who are sending an under-20 team - Jong PSV and Coventry City, the other clubs involved are hosts Nuneaton Town and also Championship club Wolves.

Nuneaton manager Tommy Wright was the driving force behind the tournament and he said:

“I would like to thank the managers and coaches of all the clubs that are participating.

“This will be a festival of football and something I really hope the whole town gets behind. It will provide excellent preparation for the new season.

“We have delivered something very special for us this summer which we are already looking forward to.

“We are delighted that such renowned clubs have accepted the invitations and we look forward to hosting this tournament in July.”

They asked for an away game due to surprise surprise wanting to cancel a home game for a 'glamour' friendly.

what league in the world would let you postpone a league game for a friendly! It's embarrassing
