Rangers players Jordan Jones and George Edmundson have been charged by the Scottish Football Association over their coronavirus breach.

The Ibrox duo face being banned after being issued with notices of complaints by Hampden disciplinary chiefs over claims they failed to comply with SFA rules and did not act in the best interests of the game.

A hearing has been set for November 19.

Both Jones and Edmundson are currently suspended by the Glasgow club for attending a house party in the city at the weekend.

The pair were caught breaching the Scottish Government’s Covid-19 regulations when police were called to the illicit gathering during the early hours of Monday morning.

Ten people were fined and the party was broken up.

On Tuesday, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard said: “The players know they have let themselves down and their families. They’ve also badly let their teammates down, and the supporters of the club.”

The incident has overshadowed the build-up to Thursday’s Europa League clash with Benfica at the Stadium of Light in Lisbon.

Gerrard said he spoke to the team again before leaving Glasgow.

He said: “We have been working ever so hard at Rangers to make sure that we are covering all bases and educating all the players.

“So, that was reiterated once more again this morning and we move on and look forward to the game now.

See this talk about "you wouldn't sack them if it's Morelos" ... who cares if it comes across as a double standard? clubs/businesses look after their own interests first and foremost all the time.

All you'd have to say is just be honest and go "difference is, we can get a fortune for Morelos - whereas Edmundson there's little value there, so we are deciding to part ways with him right away, so it's different"

Is it really that bad a thing to say, if it were ever to happen.

The only double standard that would be wrong is if one continued to play and the other was shown the door. You can't have that.

Zero integrity or class about a move like that at all.

No issues them bring charged.

Again though how the thumb previously, and more recently Ping-Pong get away with their breaches just smacks of typical SFA bias.

Agree with this, the players are to blame here not the club
