Efootball 2022

The problem is for a new football game to compete with Ultimate team/Fifa - it requires a publisher who is prepared to make a huge fucking loss. One that may never actually be recouped.

Fifa isn't just a well known game, it's a colossus... A behemoth that generally pulls in 15m+ plus sales a year. Trying to take that on is madness.

Even in its prime years - when PES was objectively the better game it still struggled to outsell Fifa. However the gaming industry as a whole(and your average football fan) has massively changed since then... So even if a new developer cracked the gameplay.. It's probably still not going to be enough to realistically challenge EA.

Besides EA wouldn't sit by and let it happen... As soon as a threat appeared, they would just double down on licensing and probably start introducing loyalty incentives to keep people playing the next iteration.

Take two/2k are realistically the only publisher/dev who have the financial clout and expierence to make it happen... But it doesn't sound like they are actually up for it either.

Totally agree with what your saying, however people forget that efootball has over 300m playerbase and the main reason I believe that FIFA ultimate team will be free to play next year.

Sorry 450m and that was almost 12 months ago. Yes they game is poor in its current beta stage however the core gameplay is still the same. But at least in Pes you can buy 10er worth of coins and guarantee legends or the very top players whereas in FIFA u could spend 10k and not get anyone above 88 rated.

Ultimately this shouldn't be a thread of what game is better because ultimately one game is shit designer for children, as someine mentioned earlier it's basically ice hockey on a football pitch while the other game is overly reliant on being too authentic and failing ATM.

Personally the ones who claim one game is better/worse than the other are the real problem with video games in general. Almost on a par with idiots who claim either ps is the best console or Xbox is.

Sorry rab, 450mill downloads means heehaw, you might find 400mill of them have deleted it cause they think its shite

With regards to fifa, ea and a new competitor, unless someone pays for the rights that EA does with names and likenesses etc, then it just wont work, EA rake in a billion dollars a year from FUT, no one can compete with that

FIFA and fifpro own the rights so tbh whoever takes on (if they do) fifa will be getting all players names etc.

the problem is EA have a deal with Rhe big 5 leagues albeit some teams are named like the old Pro teams in Italy

You will also find on the rankings board that it's divided into sub sections with smaller leaderboards and the estimate is over 100m active daily players. Ffs countries like India have a massive cult following of the game as do a lot of South American countries

I believe fifpro  ( players association ) is separate from the actual FIFA licence that's why games like Pes have all the players just not the league's etc

Aye but if EA are walking away from that then you have to imagine that fifa are asking for way too much, if EA and ita billions dollar FUT think its not worth it then surely no chance any other company can even try, especially like you said if the top leagues are already tied up with EA

Believe it or not fifa thought they were being ripped off due to the fact Ut was turning over what it was.

fifa believe they can earn that now if they get a company to make it.

I don’t like UT but it would take something special to topple EA and what they’ve built

Totally agree with this. However lack of competition does no one any good whatsoever. If EA football and efootball had a real challenger they would both need to up their game big time and that only benefits us

Not really, when PES was the best football game playing wise, fifa still sold bucketloads because of the rights they held, young players especially wanted their fav players and the lootboxes made it a mint,

If any new game wants to even get a foothold it needs rights to what EA had, which is impossible given what EA hold the now

There's a few football games supposedly coming out a true football and something else that was shown last year.

All of them will be shit and none will touch fifa and it's dominance.

Rangers are involved in that true football

I will have a look at the true football most likely but I don't have high expectations.

It's quite sad that with the technology available there isn't a single decent football game available at all. It's a case of chose what's ones the least worse of the shit available

It will come down to who owns the ultimate team licence from next year when they break as the vast majority of the player base will follow that.

If its the new ea game then that will still be the biggest and if it's whoever gets the fifa license then it will likely be them.

How funny would it be if konami decided to fork out the cash for the FIFA licence.

They won't and frankly they shouldn't as Konami are shite are making football games.

Both companies are being honest. Take away all the shiny menus and FIFA is a horrendous game of football, konami at least gameplay wise resembles football but the whole package is shit
