Alfie’s booking

Recommended Posts

It was at least a yellow. Feared it might have gone to VAR for a red.

Beaton was as crooked as they come last night. 2 instances off top of my head were the assault on Cantwell in front of the dugouts and one of our guys getting wiped out about 2 seconds late by the corner flag where the away fans sit. If they were wearing blue jerseys they would’ve been booked. Instead they were allowed to kick lumps out of our guys, aided and abetted by that clown in the middle and his two cronies running the touchlines.

It was a booking. But the issue isn’t the booking but the double standard that we are refereed too. As others have said, it wasn’t even the worse challenge in the match and several of the Hearts challenges were not carded. Still, last game for us so the will need another target now….

This 100%.

With a few obvious exceptions (Lundstrum red v Hibs and Morelos’ disallowed goal v them jump to mind this year) there are very few big decisions that I look at and think we massively get done over with.

As you say it’s the number of persistent fouls we face, or the number of heavy tackles we receive in the first 10 minutes that go without a yellow and the first yellow is to us for something way below what has gone previous that does my head in.

Prime example today was Yilmaz getting booked for pulling the boy back. Clear as day yellow and no real complaints other than Shankland tried (and failed) to bring down Sakala in pretty much the same situation 15/20 minutes later. Ref plays advantage but then doesn’t go back and book Shankland.

The wee niggly ones are the issue though, a player booked early doors massively changes his playstyle, watch yilmaz last night, after his booking there was a time where he stood off a hearts winger running with the ball as he knew one slight mistimed tackle and he was off,

If half the players who should be booked against us early doors are done so, then they walk a tightrope instead of being able to do one or two more in more dangerous areas for us
