vandelay 0
He took a nasty knock on the knee. Can't believe the Timmys think we got him to deliberately dive. He was one of our best players FFS. Another one for the Tim conspiracy theorists out there.
snoopyboymason 13
He played for a pen imo but a great performance nonetheless
paisley1967 11
Agree with Boab didn't think it was a dive both legs hit fairly hard though hope he's OK.
allyharp 2
I've been watching the replays in the highlights thread, and definitely looks like a clear dive to me. If that'd been a Celtic player I'd have been screaming for a second yellow... but he's a Ger, and MOTM for most of us so let's just hope he's back soon. kirkiebear 1,013
Lol according to the timothy's on the bbc forums, Thomson should have been sent off, denied a stonewall penalty and of course, the ref was against them
jamd1986 8
I think he'll be ok for Thursday, it was just a clash of legs. I think he stayed down since he knew he might be in trouble if he got up. We'll wait and see though...
Canadaready 9,437
he played for the free kick samaras never stuck out his leg and thomson jumped to it who cares though I don't care. I have seen them do worse many times.
the bears ba's 1
Does anybody on here care if he dived or not. It was a great performance from Thomson, capped with a goal. He totally put his best pal in the shade. :rangers: :rangers: :rangers: :rangers: :rangers: :rangers:
rfc_no1fan 13
Lol according to the timothy's on the bbc forums, Thomson should have been sent off, denied a stonewall penalty and of course, the ref was against them Kevin Thomson played a dangerous game against a referee who seemed to be card happy. He put himself into a position where the referee had to make a decision, luckily it went his/our way and he was not booked for simulation. Scott Brown, could have had a penalty. However, he did not go down and went on to have the shot on goal. You cant have it both ways. You cant shoot and miss and then get a penalty as well. If he was smarter, he would have went down, got a penalty and possibly got Whittaker sent off. On to the ref against them.... No booking for McManus's closeline on Darcheville. No free kick for the 3-4 times McGeady went into a challenge with his studs showing. The refereee was not good for either side, but because they lost they will moan like fuck. Get it up them! dummiesoot 16,115
Larsson & Laudrup won many a freekick and penalty by leaving a leg in, or moving it to ensure contact.

Fair summation of the day. You might have added that Naylor got away with a lot dissent. Hopefully Thompson will have learned a lesson, because we were the superior team without relying on the 'bells and whistles' routine. That said, the penalty 'claim' and the 'dive' were both a storm in a teacup. On balance, Celtic escaped with more and KT's first booking was an absolute disgrace. BTW, this is Dougall's second Rangers victory in nearly thirty OF games.
mithrandir713 8
I think thomson was just trying to emulate one of our recently departed comrades! Obviously Hutton had been giving out lessons before he left! Hutton had winning a foul down to an art form! His free kick wer always legitimate! Bluepeter9 5,167
Thomson definately looked for the foul - pretty bad really and blatant - but at the end of the day who cares!

J_RFC87 761
How many players have done that before Thomson though? It was a dive, but he got the contact, which doesn't make it look as half as bad as it would have.
