1. It was Smith who wanted to keep McCulloch, not Bain, so not sure why people are blaming Bain

2. Since when did everyone start believing journos and their stories

3. Rangers have received more transfer fees in 2008 than Celtic have in the last 7 years

4. Jarosik, Gravessen, Virgo and Balde..........................how the feck can anyone come to the conclusion that Lawwell is better than Bain when you look at the £15 million those 4 cost Celtic over a 2 year period.

5. Virgo left on a free transfer

Smith decided not to sell McCulloch in the summer, not Bain.

Now that Walter has woken up and realized that McCulloch is rubbish and wants to sell, the cash offer has been withdrawn.

Get a grip people and stop blaming Bain and Murray for Walter's mistakes.

Ipswich are poised to offer Lee McCulloch the chance to start the Ibrox exodus.

The versatile 30-year-old has fallen out of the picture at Ibrox this season and Town boss Jim Magilton hopes to lure him south with the promise of first-team football.

Stoke are also still interested in the player, but boss Tony Pulis can’t offer McCulloch the same guarantees.

Although Rangers paid Wigan £2.25m for his services in 2007, they are happy to let him go for nothing to free up their wage bill.

McCulloch’s contract still has two years to run but Ipswich are prepared to offer him a bumper package to lure him back south.

McCulloch has played on both flanks and recently deputised at centre-half for Rangers.

He played in the majority of games last term, but has featured only five times for the Light Blues this campaign.

But he is one of a number of fringe players Smith must clear out before he can bring an impact signing into his side.

Stevie Smith, Christian Dailly, Chris Burke, DaMarcus Beasley, Brahim Hemdani and Charlie Adam are all surplus to requirements.

Jean-Claude Darcheville has already moved to Valenciennes.

Alan Gow has returned from his loan from Blackpool, but he looks certain to join Wolves.

Andy Webster has returned from an ill-fated loan move to Bristol City.

But having made just six starts in two-and-a-half injury jinxed seasons Rangers will struggle to farm the injury-plagued stopper back out on loan.

FULHAM are eyeing a swoop for Rangers star Lee McCulloch.

But they’ll have to act fast with Ipswich Town preparing to table a bid for the 30-year-old next week.

SunSport can reveal Fulham boss Roy Hodgson is a massive admirer of former Scotland star McCulloch.

He is on the lookout for a versatile midfielder who can also play in attack and was tipped off about the Ibrox star by McCulloch’s old Wigan team-mate Jimmy Bullard, who is now starring at Craven Cottage.

But Ipswich gaffer Jim Magilton is also keen on McCulloch and has been monitoring his situation closely this season.

Now reports down south suggest he’s in a position to make a bid.

McCulloch still has two years left to run on his Ibrox contract and Gers will want to recoup most of the £2.25million they paid to bring him north in July 2007.

He would rather stay and fight for his place at Ibrox, but if he does go would prefer a move back to the Premiership.

Meanwhile, Blackpool have moved to take Alan Gow back on loan after the Gers misfit’s £250,000 transfer to Wolves fell through.

Gow was left stunned when he failed s medical at Molineux.

The Championship club claimed the 26-year-old had a ‘biomechanical’ injury. It’s believed the problem is in relation to a torn muscle in his hip.

And Gers medics have assured Gow the problem is not serious, with Wolves hoping a deal can still be done in the summer.

Ibrox strike pal Kyle Lafferty has been told he will only be out for a few weeks.

Lafferty feared a lengthy lay-off after injuring his right knee and ankle in midweek.

But specialists have told the £3.25m buy he only suffered a minor knee ligament strain.

Gavin Rae has tipped old Gers buddy Chris Burke to be a hit in the Championship after joining him at Cardiff.

Rae said: “Chris is a tricky winger with quick feet and will be a big asset for us.”

Can't see him going on a free tbh. Sure we knocked back a cash offer pre-season.

TBH, if that happened then arses should be kicked. He's played 7 games this year and we knocked back £1.5m for him!

If he had played regularly this season (thankfully not), then it would have at least made sense why we didn't sell him. I still reckon with his experience we should be able to get close to 1m for him, but I won't be surprised if he goes for nothing.

I really don't see us selling him. WS must see something in him that no one else does, he is a complete hinderance whenever he plays and seems to be the first player in the next day's paper talking nonsense about how good the team are. We should be getting crap like him off the wage bill rather than first team players. I'd take anything upwards of 500k for him and personally drive him to the airport along with Charlie Adam, Christian Dailly, Hemdani and co.
