Apparently, the game will not be covered by Broadcasters due to UEFA rules as CL games are scheduled that night. I wonder if that precludes RTV from showing it to subscribers? Nightmare if we can’t see this game, FFS!

We’re not way ahead of schedule imo, I think we are where we should be expecting to be and certainly where SG expected us to be, both from a domestic and European perspective. Prior to the home game against Spartak, I’d have said we were over-achieving in Europe, but again I don’t think reaching the group stages was being well ahead of ourselves - it was expected. If we hadn’t reached the group stages SG would have been under immense pressure. Heck, he was under pressure even with qualifying for the group stage, given our domestic away form. I think there’s no in between for us, the fans either see us as under-achieving or over-achieving but I honestly think we’re bang where we should be. There has been no crises nor has there been any unexpected wins that have blown us away. That’s why we’re close in the league and we’ll have to muster up something brave to get through in Europe. I wouldn’t have expected anything less, and I happy with that, but not ecstatic.

Looks like a tough group of fixtures for Hearts, we’ll see what they’re made of come end of November. If they can pick up 12 points from those 5 games this will be a very interesting season and could very well be a 3 horse race.

In answering the OP, you need to also consider the performances not just the league position. Bar a couple of poor performances (Livi and them) we’ve have demonstrated clear progress and exciting football, success on the European stage. All things considered, level of competition, rotation, learning on the job, we cannot be unhappy where we are.

It does on here. Being critical is about debating the managers tactics, formation, substitutions, players attitude or performances. That’s fine, and yes, fans are rightfully choosing to vent. When the patter becomes ‘sack the manager’, ‘he’ll never get it right’, ‘as bad as Pedro’, ‘ it was the same with Murty’, ‘Gerrard should never have been manager with his experience’, ‘we need to ask Walter back immediately’, etc....ad infinitum, then that is also a fucking overreaction or Meltdown. Give him time! Or not. But don’t fucking put him on a pedestal after a few games and then kick him off it when we hit a bump or two. He needs to get the formula right but he’s one manager I would give time to. Don’t expect miracles immediately.

Agree, Europe is vitally important, and we’re doing bloody well. League form has been strange but not without extenuating circumstances - refereeing/sendings off, travel schedules, time needed to gel new players and formations, diabolical playing surface today. We are Work In Progress, we knew there would be bumps along the way. Gerrard and the players will get it right, the signs are there, but we need to give them time.

Clever of Gerrard not to throw Alfredo under the bus when questioned about his attitude with referees. He said he hadn’t had a word with him and that he cannot praise and chastise him at the same time. I thought the issue was ignoring the ref when he called him over, hence Halliday escorting him to the ref. It could be the ref was just going to have a strong word but by then Morelos had lost his chance. I’m not sure if cursing is all the English Morelos has learned or not but if it was for verbal abuse then either Madden understands Spanish or Morelos needs to ignore what his English speaking team mates are teaching him. ?
