Naismith getting injured actually seals the deal for me because it proved that he is our best player by a country mile. I'd give it to him if I could. I think it's impossible to say how Ally would have managed the second half of the season if this mess hadn't got quite so bad, so we need to give him some slack there. The fact is, it's hard to be tactically astute when you've got a bunch of misfits that might have been forced on you. I'll stick to my previous line of argument that if we can invest a few million each season on getting targets that Ally really wants, then stick with him and give the man his chance. If we can't spend a penny then we need a new manager who has achieved success when working with nothing to spend. If it was at all possible, I'd love to see Ally stay as assistant if the latter had to happen, but I wouldn't blame him for being unwilling to do that. Frankly I'm ecstatic that Ally is the man at the helm right now, because 99% of other managers would be planning an escape route.

If it turns out to be fact he never put a penny in, I would be utterly fucking raging. That would be worse than even some if his main detractors would have expected.
