Gio did hleventually have to go tbh. This season's European results, the downturn in league results and a few of the players downing tools contributed to this.
It doesn't mean though that we can't appreciate that he brought us within a penalty shootout of winning the Europa League, and winning the Scottish cup in the short time he was here. He does have tactical nous which showed in the Europa League, but showed far too much respect to Scottish opposition.
He also wasn't helped by the lack of investment in the playing squad considering the record player sales we had.

I keep imagining all of our new players & Beale celebrating in front of our fans, lifting the trophy etc. Moments like that are what make them love the club more and give inspiration to win even more silverware.
We simply cannot let these bastards win on Sunday. It can’t happen. Win this cup and let the league fall how it may, but i want a cup double minimum this season.

I’ve no problem with any of them getting into HoF to be honest.
McGregor is the latest in a long line of great keepers we’ve been blessed with and has given years and years of great service. If he’s still getting picked at 41,  that’s down to the club failing to find an adequate replacement.
Davis has also given us years of service, is a great influence in the dressing room (especially with the younger players and new recruits) and has represented us in two European finals.
And Tavernier’s record speaks for itself. He’s improved defensively yet continues to create and score more goals than most midfielders and many forwards.
Being honoured in this way is not about current form or recent displays, it’s about years of service and we need to see the bigger picture.

Yes. You don't want to go down as that scummy club that did that kind of thing without redressing it.
Will be seen far and wide that we're not, now, and have a bit of class.

When I think of Rangers, I think of my Dad. How he went to all home/away games before I was born. How he sat me in my high chair to watch our highlights on TV. How I went to my first home and away games with him. How we loved the whole matchday experience even if results were sometimes shit. How we celebrated title wins/trophies. How we got our bricks at Ibrox. How we hated the lower leagues but also how we also had some of our best times together during the "journey". How sad I was that he couldnt be here to see us get 55.
Mostly when I think of Rangers I think of the bond it gave us, and how I'm carrying on his legacy by supporting us when I wanted to give up football after he passed away. Born Rangers, die Rangers.

Culture, legacy and heritage are the wrong words.
    It's literally everything.
My whole life is planned around Rangers Football Club. The only thing that takes precedence over it are the kids, and even then Rangers still comes out on top at times cause they want to watch as well!
My first ever piece of clothing was a little knitted jumper from my Granny, royal blue with a white panel across the front red writing knitted in "Glasgow Rangers"
The years in my life are remembered by what Rangers had done those years, for example as soon as I see "2005" my brain goes to helicopter Sunday, 2011 the league being won in 7 minutes, 1999 doing the huddle at their dump.
I could be having the best week ever, Rangers play on the Saturday and if we lose, no matter what made that week so great is fucked. Instant downer until we play again and redeem it.
Rangers is literally a way of life. Even if we're not playing, or nothing special is really going on, I'm still checking up on Rangers forums or the group chats talking to other like minded supporters etc.
It's shaped my friends and relationships.
    Everything, my whole life.

It has helped me get through some hard times and gave me the best living memories I have outside my kids being born.
My 3 important things in life are my Family and my Job and my Club. Great thread mate made me think quite deep there.

tommyw reacted to Davy Vandenbroucke in Welcome Back to Rangers, Michael Beale!
MICHAEL Beale is the 18th manager of Rangers with the club delighted to confirm his appointment today.
Signing a contract to 2026, the 42 year-old joins from his role as manager of Queens’ Park Rangers in West London having previously worked as first-team coach at Ibrox from 2018 to last November.
It is an exciting appointment for the club, with Beale undoubtedly one of the most sought-after young managers in British football.
Indeed, in his previous time at Rangers he tirelessly supported manager Steven Gerrard and the technical staff in working towards winning title number 55 in 2021, while the club, under Gerrard, was relaunched on the European stage and built a superb reputation once there.
Beale has strong, existing relationships with many members of the first-team squad, and, of course, fully understands the unique nature of Rangers Football Club and the demands and standards that come with representing the club.
To date, his coaching career has seen him hold roles within the academies at Chelsea and Liverpool; as assistant manager at Sao Paulo in Brazil, and also as first-team coach at Rangers and Aston Villa before taking the QPR lead job in the summer.
Beale will now have time to prepare his squad at the Rangers Training Centre, with his first competitive game coming on December 15 at home to Hibernian, albeit Gers will first host Bayer Leverkusen in a friendly match on December 10.
Rangers would like to put on record their thanks to Queens’ Park Rangers for the professional manner in which they have conducted negotiations.
Neil Banfield, Harry Watling and Damian Matthew will all join Michael at Rangers, with further appointments to be confirmed in the days ahead.
Rangers Chairman, Douglas Park, commented: “I am delighted to welcome Michael as our new manager as we aim to strengthen our on-field performance.
Michael is a very exciting appointment for us, and his energy and ambition stood out both when he was here previously, and in the discussions we have had prior to him re-joining.
“The board will support both Michael and Ross Wilson to make this appointment a success, and I wish him the very best going forward."
On his appointment, Beale continued:“It is fantastic to be back and to see everybody this morning, there are some new faces but some people that I know really well so it is great to see everyone.
I am hugely proud, it is a wonderful, wonderful football club, it is an institution. For everyone that works here it is a huge privilege, but to be the manager of this football club, that is extremely special. Some wonderful people have sat in this chair prior to me, and I am hugely proud to be the person sat here now.
Sporting Director, Ross Wilson, added:“I am pleased to welcome Michael back to Rangers today. I know how excited he is about everything that comes with the prestige of being Rangers manager.
Equally our players and staff at both the training ground and at Ibrox are looking forward to working with Michael. He has a clear plan and will get to work with the group straight away along with the technical and support staff.
“Finally, this is a coveted managerial position and after an intense week of discussions, I wish to extend our sincere thanks to all of the excellent managers who we met to discuss the role.”

Gio was far too safe, with an attacking team - that's his downfall.
This squad was set up to play attacking possession based football, with high-pressure to beat lowblocks, something we commonly come up against in Scotland.
He nullified all attacking components of the team, played too defensively. Even his demeanor, that of a coward.
Saying we couldn't compete etc. It was a write off from the start to be quite honest with you.
I maintain that European run came from the groundwork left by Gerrard and Beale.

The opportunity to manage an institution like Rangers FC is a privilege which very few are afforded. As a former player, I understood the responsibility and magnitude of the task.

My backroom team and I worked with energy, passion and were driven with a belief that we could achieve amazing things. We treated our roles with respect, optimism and determination.

We experienced some incredible highs, especially on our European journey to Seville. Winning the Scottish Cup for the first time in over a decade and qualifying for the group stage of the Champions League is something I am very proud of. The passion of our support drove us on to achieve those wonderful memories. For that, I am forever grateful to every single one of you who travelled near and far, spent your hard earned money, and never gave up supporting our team.

This season, like every year at Rangers, the first priority is domestic success. I understand the hurt when wins become draws, and worse, when we experience defeat. That isn’t acceptable at a club of Rangers standing, no one understood that and felt that more than I did. I faced unique challenges and some very difficult circumstances to operate in.

Rangers FC will always be in my heart and I wish the club all the success for the future. Once a Ranger, always a Ranger.
