  1. Im my opinion, the league would have been wrapped up if Hutton had stayed! He added so much to the team other than his defensive and offensive capabilities. For example, in the second half of the season, when Broadfoot was at RB, the right flank was always wide open, as teams knew that it was extremely unlikely that Kirk (try as he may) would hurt them with the entire flank open. When Hutton was here, there is no way teams would allow that space in the right flank, as AH would murder them! This actually meant that teams specifically set out the stall to minimise AH's marauding down the flank, making more space for others to try and expolit. When Hutton left and teams realised that Broadfoot was relatively harmless in attack, the space that was there for others (as teams had men protecting their left flank) was reduced, as they didn't have to focus on Rangers' main attacking outlet. The reasons above are my opinion on why the league was lost. I mean the above as no slight to Broadfoot, who tried his best to cover, but he is in no way the same type of player and athlete that Hutton was. In some ways I feel Wally hung him out to dry, and I would be surprised if his career ever fully recovers from the consequences of last season, as the fans will not fully trust him, even when he is in his correct position! Why Wally never put Whittiker (who I would suggest is a poor man's Hutton) to his natural attacking right back role I will never know!!
  2. Best thing that could happen to Boydy is to do a Mutu - ie get caught **allegedly**! That will allow him to re-evaluate his life like Mutu did, and come back a far improved athlete, realising it is his last shot at glory! Surely to F Kris must have noticed the difference in Hutton when he stopped getting mashed, and thought 'I fancy a bit of that!' Much as I think Kris is a top quality goalscorer, he needs to screw the nut and stop getting mashed!
  3. Far too sensible, there is no fun in that. Gow is the victim of a horrendous career choice! Surely Wally must have promised him a fair crack at the whip when he joined? He really has just wasted a year of his career! Alan Gow will be consigned to the 'example bucket' of what happens when you join the old firm, alongside Riordan, Murray, etc. Surely signing these lads and not playing them is detrimental to signing other young scots from provincial clubs? For what it's worth, I agree with the guy that said he'd rather give young gers with potential a shot instead of signing this Laugherty mincer! FFS surely Stevie Lennon or Rory Loy could rattle in more than 6 goals in a championship season! Pish Wally....get it sorted! The more boys that come through the youths the better for the club! Pride!
  4. Nice one mate. My only criticism is you dwell on the mhanks far too much!
  5. To be fair, I think they were celebrating finishing 3rd overall. It was afterall their last home game of the season.
  6. Reynolds is a good prospect, but not really good enough yet to play for Rangers - whether he will be also remains to be seen, as he is suspect with high balls. With Cuellar next to him he may well be a good signing as his positional sense and compusure is excellent for one so young! No way would Well accept an offer of less than a million!
  7. Deary dear, little Wayne would have been about 14 when Walter was there - a little research makes one look less stupid my unreasonable friend!
  8. Best player in my lifetime (born '78) is Diego Maradona without a shadow of a doubt! Ronaldo (the original and best) may have been able to challenge that if he had continued his progress pre WC '98 - at Barca he was simply scintillating! After all his knee injuries he adapted his game, and his game was based on pace, power and finishing (which for a normal player would have been fantatsic) but before that he literally had everything in his game to eclipse Diego! Speaks volumes that despite being the highest WC goalscorer ever, he only really fufilled about 60% of his promise! Christiano Ronaldo is excellent, but has a lot to do to reach the pre WC'98 real Ronaldo. Ignore all the blatently biased creaming from the English media, CRonaldo is not as good as Messi in my opinion!
  9. Absolute codswallop! Watch it again mate, his legs were gone and his eyes were glazed! If Willie was a banger he would have taken him out after it!
  10. Admittedly, St Clair has been a champion....but at lightweight - I dont think so! He was a featherweight champ, a mere 2 weights below where he fought khan! In fact, St Clair was lined up to fight our very own Scott Harrison, before Scott went on the piss and the fight got cancelled! Khan could be good, but the fact he enters the ring at almost welterweight, and fights at lightweight against blown up feathers and superfeathers would suggest he has a glass chin! The fact that Limond (who has a piss poor ko record) had him in bother would back up that fact!
  11. We not still got a young keeper called Graeme Smith ? Nope, he's now at Motherwell.
  12. Think you're being a touch paranoid lads! Phil's unfortunate death has affected the entire Scottish Football...you just read the comments in the papers. BTW Barry F has stated he was a good friend of Phil's and McManus is a very close friend of the O'Donnell family.
  13. Doubt it somewhat! He still wears blue boots from time to time! I would say he is a definate bluenose!
  14. Heard on Saturday night that a 6million deal has been agreed with Portsmouth - would be very dissappointed in both RFC and AH if this proves to be true. Source????? Bizarrely from a guy who works for an SPL team. He has never let me down in the past.
  15. See for yourself: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Thomson
  16. Heard on Saturday night that a 6million deal has been agreed with Portsmouth - would be very dissappointed in both RFC and AH if this proves to be true.
  17. Hutton and McGregor in 1 up this evening, along with the entire Hearts team! Heard from an extremely reliable source that a 6 million deal has been agreed with Portsmouth (of all clubs). Should clarify that I was not talking to AH, and as such he did not confirm this! True or not? Time will tell; though we all know that sources have been known to be wrong!
  18. Think your dislike for the timbeciles is deluding you Jadams. I would say that the atmosphere they create is on a par.
  19. Papac played well. I also thought that Whitty was okay. Not seen it here, but I thought Thomson was by far the best midfielder.
  20. I'm lovin' it I'm hating it. if the likes of RDB want to lower themselves to this level, please don't use our countries flag. Use the traditional tatty bedsheet. He and the other fans are entitled to voice their opinion, sadly, it was the attitude of Stein who culpably suppressed the truth and who are complicit by their actions. WE should never silence those who have a right of freedom of expresion, even where, it sits uncomoftable with those who by their silence support abuse and demean the vulnerable. In my opnion , human rights and the rights of the vulnerable have primacy and should never be sidelines for fear of embarrassming the aggressor and their cohorts. For such a guardian of moral highground, I would have thought that you wouldn't want to rub the victims of the abuse's nose in it! Perhaps the constant reminders of this brings back memories for the boys (and other victims of child abuse). Frankly, it is a bit off claiming the 'moral highground' to defend an 'immoral' campaign!
  21. I'm not as sure about McCormack. I think he's found his level. I remember him trying to control a ball 1st time on the half way line at Ibrox once, ended up back with our keeper! Decent at free kicks, but for both Rangers and Ross, I think the right decision was made. Was McCormack released on the basis of ability or attitude? Watching the lad, there is no questioning his technical ability (he is almost as good as McFadden was at the age); however his attitude has been questioned on many occassions since he left! I heard a story that the Well players did not take to kindly to him showing his Porto goal on a daily basis (via mobile phone) when he first joined; and also that the 'virus' which curtailed his appearances last season was indeed a bust up with Malpas & Hegarty over training methods! Since McGhee took over, he does look an altogether improved player. I agree with Papaguy to an extent, in that I dont think he would seriously be looking to establish himself in the Rangers first team until perhaps this season. However, sometimes you need to take a backwards step in the short term to move forward in the long term. Was there a sell on clause as part of the free, as I dont think he'll be hanging around Fir Park much longer? I recall finding it very strange the Motherwell signed one of Rangers promising youngsters (who had scored in the CL) for a free transfer; perhaps PLG did not like his attitude. Good or bad for Rangers, only time will tell; but if he keeps on improving he could end up one heck of a player!
  22. Quite right actually Danny, I agree that no club should profit from the public purse when it is as black and white as that! I rescind my ealier post about not being bothered about the actual porkheid stadium getting a cheap refurb, unless they pay for it.
