  1. They might be a good team but surely 4th captain is a bit gay??
  2. Made it to my first game of the season last night despite having 2 season ticks. Great game to kick off with. Kyle Hutton was VERY impressive in CM role. Head up all the time, always looking to play the ball forward and available for a one-two. Wylde again impressed me when he came on - old school winger who knocks it past the full back and crosses early. Would love to see us go with Wylde and Weiss against the likes of St Mirren at home in the SPL. Jelavic is smashing footballer - as someone on here said he's basically the Anti-Boyd. Great touch, good vision, unselfish and makes terrific runs both into space and short. 3 goals in 3 starts shows he also knows where the goals are. His movement makes Davis's job in the middle much easier. Andy Little looks like a Championship player at best. Good engined and works hard but lacks a bit of quality for me. Hope im wrong. Webster looked a bit lost but maybe understood after limited playing time and new back 4 thrown together. Lafferty - some excellent finishes, 3rd goal was a beaut. Having said that im still not convinced he's a striker but hopefully he can learn from Jelavic how to make runs and get into space. Naismith - good to see him on the score sheet again. All he perhaps has needed is a steady run of games and the confidence of a few goals to get back to the level he was showing with Killie on a regular basis. Much to be cheered about with Weir, Edu, McCulloch, Miller, Whittaker and McGregor all given a night off.
  3. Come on man. Bill Bailey writes comedic little songs and talks about elves. Mr Hicks tore apart the bullshit the world stands on in the rawest and funniest form anyone has ever done political/religious comedy. IMHO of course.
  4. He's good but let's be honest he's no Bill Hicks.
  5. Good work Frankie - we have to be active in this regard. For far too long we've taken the "ach that's small minded parandoid Tim behaviour" but whilst they continue to attack us on every available front we have to take a stand. Keep up the good work all.
  6. Reasons for Walter Smith's poor Euro record. 1. the 3 foreigner rule throughout the 90's. 2. the 3 foreigner rule 3. the fact we are based in Scotland who haven't a decent international side for almost 40yrs. 4. players fitness and Scottish drinking culture 5. poor tactics at times 6. playing players out of position Smith is far from blameless but just having a half decent budget doesn't guarantee Euro success. Look at the Russian teams of late - some of the top spenders in Europe but their own league isn't great and they struggle almost every year in the CL to avoid 4th.
  7. Perhaps some of their better players were injured and they are looking for a better date. Integrity of the league and all that.
  8. Worst article of the month. The quote is from Paul Sturrock who signed him 6yrs ago for Sheff Wed saying "he might catch someone's eye". Fuck off Tim!!
  9. Terrific display by the lads last night. Yes we could have held possession a little better and been more assured on the fleeting chances to break we did have. However if you were offered that before kick-off we would have bitten there hand off. Leaves us in a good position if we can manage to sneak a win at home to the Turks. Bursapor then move on to a round robin with Man Utd who need to bank 9 points still (thanks to our draw last night).
  10. In the house - hopefully get the 2 new bears down to their bed before kick-off.
  11. Last week i was fearing a 3-0 for some reason but ive recovered my testicles and fancy us to nick a draw. Must keep possession when we have it and try and exploit Miller and Weiss's pace to get at them on the break. Could do with a Ferguson or Hemdani in there to get there foot on it but looking forward to it anyway.
  12. getting better - just managed my top score of 65k.
  13. McGregor Foster Bougherra Weir Papac Weiss Davis McCulloch Naismith Beattie Jelavic Keep Miller fit for Old Trafford (on bench in case of emergency), get more gametime for Beattie and Foster in for our injured RB's.
  14. I was one of those calling for him to be given a go up front in his more "natural position". However having watched him there at the end of last season i can categorically say he doesn't have the attributes to be a good striker. His movement is absolutely terrible. His runs actually reduce the options of the midfielder looking to pass. He has no real poachers instinct, is poor in the air for a 6ft 5in guy and isn't the best at bringing others into play. Given his embarrassing comments and playacting i would say he's not up to wearing the shirt.
  15. Guys id recommend searching for apartment lets. We stayed in Valencia for the Villareal game and had a cracking 2 bed apartment with kitchen, living room and balcony. Think it worked out about £100 each for 4 nights. Had a pool as well but was pretty nippy being March and we kept getting chucked out of it by site security. Fair shifted the hangover though - in retrospect it was probably closed but fuck em.
  16. The Crowne Plaza is the one at the SECC. Or the Travel Inn just off George Square - U/G to ibrox and close to all food. SoHo on Miller Street is a nice wee basic Italian on Miller Street if you're keeping an eye on the cash.
  17. Lovenkrands vs Villareal at Ibrox or over there? The one over there was pretty good but we'd be on the raandan in Valencia for 3 days by then and can't remember it exactly. Culminating in us leathering the alcohol free lager in the ground thinking we were getting more wrecked. Durrant's vs Ives Tampere McCoist vs Leeds (amazing counter attack goal) Hateley vs Leeds
  18. Let's be honest if we were told in March this year that we would hold onto McGregor, Boogie and Davis, whilst adding an English international striker from the EPL, a highly rated up and coming Croatian striker with 6 caps with a strong forward line and one of the brightest prospects in European football we would have thought someone was taking the pish. Given our circumstances at the minute im delighted with our business.
  19. Given our level of financial "troubles" and the difficult path to secure CL football next year then im fairly delighted with our window work. Ricky Foster is a very sensible signing - he's very quick, can cover 4 or 5 positions and has always looked decent against us. When we only have 16 senior pros guys like Foster, McCulloch and Naismith will be key to us retaining the title as they can slot into several places to cover injury and suspension when needed. Would i have liked another 2 players - definitely. Do i think we have enough to win the league though? Also definitely.
  20. Outs Boyd Thomson Novo Smith Beasley Ins Jelavic Weiss Beattie Still 2 players short of last year's threadbare squad. I'd liked to have seen 2 or 3 players coming in today. Will be concerned if none. We could do with a left sided def, ball holding MF and a left mid. Although that article does say Rangers won't sell Lafferty as its too late to get a replacement but are worries about losing players to last minute bids
  21. I can exclusively reveal that I'm currently in the little chef in Carlisle with big Kyle. I offered to run him down to the north f England this morning just so he is handy for a number of English clubs. I'm having the full breakfast, Kyles gone for the Olympic (I'm richer than you mug fans) breakfast. Will provide updates during the day.
  22. I'd initially thought it would be a negative for us with them going out but i've reconsidered. They've signed 10 players from around the world on the strength of European football. I'd like to see the Mexican and the Israeli boy at Fir Park Meadows in December knowing they have another 6months of this!! Nothing else to look forward to than the slog of the SPL. They also have a squad of 30 players who they definitely wont be able to keep happy now. Unrest in camp affects team spirit. Also that deprives them of at least £4m or so for tickets sales and TV money in Europe. Whilst we are clawing our way back towards the black anthing that fucks them financially is good with me.
  23. I think we're better off in Pot 3 anyway. 2 bigger names suits the Scottish underdog mentality plus we'd want the Pot 2 team to hammer the Pot 4 team making it a straight play off between us and Pot 4 team for last 16 Europa league. Last year Stuttgart, Unirea and ourselves were all at a similar-ish level. 2 cracking nights at Ibrox for me AC Milan (they are no great shakes just now and could nick something at home) and Real Madrid just for the Mourinho press attention. Anyone beatable from the bottom section. We probably don't want a long Europa league run but another round would earn us another £1.5m and it all helps just now. Plus it keeps the euro interest going into the New Year and could be enough to convince the bank to release funds for a Jan re-inforcement.
  24. Doesnae get a look in for my money. We've got good hardworking but less technical players like Kirk Broadfoot who we'll need for a home game against St Johnstone <cr>
