Some of the negativity around this appointment baffles me, but then it doesnt suprise me. 
Neil McCann is a good example. Almost no coaching or managerial experience, but knows the game and is very knowledgeable, performed at a high level aswell, and then took to punditry. His opinions were so highly thought of he was even mentioned as a potential Rangers manager. When Dundee appointed him, there were very few negative comments from press, managers, ex players or fans. Now granted, he’s not quite turned them around just yet, but most would agree given time he will. 
Compare that to us appointing one of the biggest names in world football under similar circumstances and the difference in reaction is startling. I suppose that comes with being the only show in town.
