  1. I like the idea of totally separate banners. The press will know what they mean but some members of the public will have to think and ask questions. Long way to go though so we need to wait & see if we get there.
  2. I have been to club Europe loads of times but I don't remember the format changing much for an early kick off. Once when we played and beat septic there was an early kick off with the food served after the game which was great as it turned into a big party all along the club Europe corridor. In more recent times there have been moves to restrict how much you can drink & scoff I presume just for cost reasons. No more 3 pies at half time.
  3. Of course it would be a treble but to be honest making it to the final is as much as I'm hoping for at the moment. The last couple of Hampden final's I was at saw us up against quite lowly opposition and it took us quite some time and a wee bit of Nacho magic to pitt those cups. Anything can happen but there are too many out there jumping the gun. Lets wait to see if we get a game at the giro dome ( aka big jock knew camp ) in May and if so we can dream of a treble.
  4. If we need money we can get it. We are 18 months from playing in the top tier and at the end of the first year there we may have qualified for Europe. We are not a bad investment but the usual suspects keep dishing the dirt because they don't want to talk about how poorly other teams are doing even with us out the way though clearly well on the road back. We just need to ignore rumours and deal with facts.
  5. It's great to see even if we are taking a big leap of faith.
  6. If we did win the cup which is a big ask it would really show Scottish Football that we are back as a force to be reckoned with. Even a final appearance would send a big message. Next year we get harder teams to play so we should be able to do even better in the cup competitions. Winning the Scottish Cup is always a great way to end a season so if the gods shine on us one day in May I will be very happy.
  7. I agree except that a slightly harder draw would have been better to test the team but at least we are all but guaranteed a semi-final appearance and who knows what will happening the other games.
  8. So I assume we all need to tune in to Sky Sports News sometime after 1:40pm and before 2pm. If you don't have Sky & SSN you should be able to find a live stream of SSN easily enough. They won't have the draw before the game surely, Nah they are talking American stuff.
  9. Hibs are not in good shape at present and we are clearly getting there. Raith will give us a game for sure. As to whether it's a cup worth winning, well if we don't win it then it's one achievement less and any prize money is welcome of course. It's a nice shiny trophy and if we manage to achieve the still not very likely Scottish Cup win then the Ramsdens would give us a treble which no one else can manage so for my part I want to win it.
  10. very funny. Looking forward to tomorrow's draw.
  11. I'm sure our team will be up for the cup and anything CAN happen. If we get to the final it will be a big statement.
  12. I take great pride in never having set foot in the dump which is the giro dome so I can only comment on the outside. Whoever built that entrance was doing it on the cheap with a poor architect and dodgy bricks. Probably built by the descendants of the people who built the Titanic so well, who knows. We have actually made a noise on many occasions about making Ibrox as big as that place but who wants a big heap that's always half empty.
  13. Sounds like nonsense. If we were nearly broke we would have sold Wallace.
  14. I don't mind if we do sell him. I don't see him as a great player, just a very good one. He does not score many goals and while his runs down the left can lead to goals it's not the main source of our scoring. £1 Million would run the club for a month at least so worth having the cash. The only player who scunnered me when he left was Steven Davis as I though he was True Blue.
  15. I would much rather see him coming on and entertaining Rangers fans than doing the same for some minor team. He just needed to learn to go to the corner and cross rather than keep trying to cut inside to improve his game. There was always approval when he came on as a sub in the 3rd division. People expected the enjoyment factor to go up and usually it did. He will get good experience & maybe that's all that matters long term.
  16. So our glory days are 'firmly in the past'. Utter pish. Some of the article makes sense but suggesting that we will never have players like Laudrup again is rubbish. The world changes and there is no reason to expect Rangers to languish. We will get back and have great players. Hopefully those players come through our youth system but they will come. "If you rebuild it, they will come" or something like that
  17. Too many poll options really. I do not see that Ally is holding the team back an awful lot. I thought Walter was holding us back big time with his tactics even when we were in the final in Manchester and to this day I still hope to have that conversation with him one day. I don't have any big chat's I need to have with Ally and if I met him I would be more likely to say thanks and shake his hand. He stuck by the club and he is getting results. The entertainment value is not there but I do believe that next season we will get more entertainment than we can cope with given the step up in fitness of the teams we will face.
  18. I like the idea of putting the enclosure back to standing. Whether that would get people singing who knows but it might work. The only time I have been there was for the reserve league game last year & it was pretty good. Back in the 'old days' there were a few areas where singing would start up but now we just assume the wee boys are in charge and let BF1 do the singing, or not, depending on their mood. While I don;t want Andy Cameron back perhaps they could put up some lyric suggestions on the big screens or even the score boards during the game.
  19. Last season I was at every game bar 2 when I was ill. This year I moved my ST to a better seat in with a good crowd and I have hardly been in the seat. I like the addition of wifi but little things like that will not make me travel a long way until the play improves. 2 hours watching a poor quality stream on the laptop is better than half a day's travel to be there in my seat. Maybe when the team improves I will turn up more often. Nothing will stop me giving the club money though because they need the income and it's the fans who are keeping the dream alive.
  20. This is a very hard one. In no particular order, The year we won the last of the old style first division after years & years of not winning anything. We drew with Hibs at Easter Road. After the game John Greig came in to Waverley station but had to scarper as there were too many of us fans rushing at him. Helicopter Sunday, Unbelievable (with thanks to John MacDonald) The year we won with Arteta's penalty. I was at home watching our game and the other one at the same time. Worst would be not winning 10 in a row.
  21. He has scored a lot of goals. He just has to learn how to pass the ball instead of his long hopeful punts up the park and more importantly go back to basics on defending. He keeps trying to do smart things that don't come off. His brain is working against his.
  22. We need the income from the top league so we cannot afford to hang around. I don't think it will be an easy waltz through the championship/league one but would expect to get there. We did much better in the 3rd div giving the youngsters a chance and we really need to balance the books while trying to improve the quality and entertainment value of the football.
  23. I did not see any programme at the final, just the cheap scarf (no doubt a bloke from Glasgow over for the day) and the posters.
  24. I came across some programmes from our march to the final and the blow up player I took to Barcelona (and saved from a Spanish cop who wanted to burst it when I would not sell it to him). I also have the bullfighter poster with the teams on and a poor quality scarf being sold outside the ground. I did bring back turf but it did not last. Who else has mementoes of the Big day in '72.
  25. We were not getting into anything. We were already there. The first year was much more fun than this year especially at the beginning when I'm sure most of us believed Charles Green when he said he was here till we were back in europe. This year the football has been mince with no excuses. We had a poor start last year, a good middle and faded towards the end. This year we are just crunching out results to get where we are going without any entertainment. Having moved to the north of England I have not managed up to many games so my ST seat has been mostly vacant. Maybe next year I will deliberately go for one of the seats with a bad view as I'm unlikely to get to the games much. I will be at Ibrox if we get the chance to win the league at home of course. The only game I look forward to is the Ramsdens final. My son-in-law is a Raith fan.
