That would be good, there’s a lot of big clubs in South America who would make that a special occasion. But probably River V Boca would be best for atmosphere?

Flamengo v Corinthians ...Rio against Sao Paulo would be special as they are the two biggest supported clubs in the country.Corthinians fans are known as the Hawks of the Faithful, they played a final in the Maracana a few years back and took up 70000 fans to Rio.Brazilian  fans are weird they really only turn up for the really big games ,my first time there in the Maracana and the attendance was 17000 and that was when it was the old concrete bowl deathtrap before they put most of the seats in

Last thing I would wish to do is start a heated controversy here; however, the following has come up...

The full background... just been explained on, 'Rangers related picture thread'.

Essentially, as Don54 - a foremost, knowledgeable Club historian - explains:

"In 1955, Scot Symon brought his Rangers side here for this fixture in order to raise funds for an extension to Sandy Row Orange Hall".

He adds, "Imagine the meltdown if we did that these days"...

That's the bit that bothers me...

It simply raised the question, 'What has changed between 1955 and now, such that any similar gesture from our Club today, would indeed result in 'uproar'.

Realising that I genuinely didn't know the answer... thought it was maybe a question of interest to others?

OP a hint for you stop talking to and hanging around with those who would seek to deflect the horrific abuse their paedophile ring commited rather than want justice for the victims.

That league structure, or similar, is inevitable now. It's about making money for various parties. Nothing else.  It's about making money for owners, TV companies and no doubt some in the know officials that'll be involved in facilitating it under the table. Competitiveness, sporting value, heritage, local attachment, fans and history don't matter.

How the other clubs and leagues left over end up looking is hard to say. Will it be like the NHL with minor leagues below? Probably something like it. I think the national leagues will still keep a local importance and be valued in their own right, whilst the European League will be basically a glitzy, globally relevant league of franchises with fans from all over the shop.

It's sad, because football is better as a locally distinct sport.

    great post

That should be intense. Is there a decent ticket split at those games?

not really River will probably get a top tier section at La Bombonera probably about 5000,same with Boca at The Monumental...would honestly fly to Buenos Aires if I thought I could get a ticket for the home leg at River...gold dust though and will sell for 1000s on black market...out of my payscale mate?

  6. River into final last kick of the game against Gremio will.play Boca who beat Palmerias of Brazil this will be the biggest derby game in the history of football like Rangers playing the dark side in the CL final...to be played over 2 legs, will be absolute bedlam in Buenos Aires.Gremio are appealing the result though because a banned River coach was in the changing room at half time

Tottenham Hotspur are set to borrow another £237million to cover the spiralling costs of their new stadium build.

Spurs revealed the extension of their “development facility” with their three banking partners in their statement on Friday night, which confirmed that the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium would not be ready until 2019. The club also revealed their net debt as £366m, a figure that is set to rise to £600m.

fuck modern football...the stadium is to have a caviar   and lobster outlet that should lower the debt a bit though
