  1. I think he will get time. For many reasons namely the fact that he's a massive name in world football and that the pigs in charge of us don't want to be responsible for yet another failure so will give him every chance possible to avoid taking responsibility for anything, as that's how they operate.

I'm still none-the-wiser if he will be a success or not. On one hand he's done really well shoring up the defence and putting out a team of battlers. That's great. But his team selections, tactics, subs, signings in other areas (or lack of) has me a bit alarmed if I'm honest.

I think we are in a better place than we ever were under McCoist, Pedro and the other caretakers like Murty etc but I don't think it's almost enough to be winning the title either which annoys me.

  2. So far they've been outstanding.

I had reservations about Goldson, nothing to do with ability just the 3-million fee but him for 3 and 1.2-2 million for Katic seems like a bargain.

I don't want to get carried away though as there's been a lot of players looked decent at the start then fell away but I like what I see from them.

I'm a big fan of the type of markets that we got Katic from. We should be doing a lot more scouting there.

Ejaria made 2 great runs and would have been right through on goal if he had been given the ball, especially the one in the 95 minute where coulibally over hit a simple pass. Didn't understand the Kent sub at all, maybe they 2 were brought on because they have to be given a certain amount of game time

Someone on the bus was saying that regards promised game time. No way to operate if true but it's just speculation I'd guess.

It’s based upon how the game panned out

It's not when you have the conversation at the time (in real time) about the subs being wrong  and us not creating enough to kill the game off which also applies and has been talked about for weeks.

I think Gerrard will learn from it and we will improve though. Just don't know how far we can realistically go without a poacher and a creative midfielder.

Not saying people are wrong about the subs but hindsight is great. It took them until 93 to get a shot on target so it could have been the smart move to exploit the gaps/ tiredness by introducing those 2. It didn’t work and if the same type of subs cost us again then it’s an issue.

    It's not hindsight though.

We need the creativity to come from the 2 wide men if we are going with Jack Arfield Coulibaly midfield 3. Sadly Murphy and Windass don’t give us that.

It's a wrong call to be too reliant on wingers though for creatvity as they traditionally can blow hot and cold and can be luxury players. We need someone in the middle of the park that can drop a shoulder, go past a man, split a pass etc. There's no-one to do that and I think it will cost us this season.

I know these players aren't cheap but they are out there - we haven't made an effort to get one.

Again, wouldn't disagree but wanting to look at the positives, we were streets ahead of them. If SG can learn from his mistakes then it shouldn't happen again. As an aside Ryan Jack really impressed me yesterday.

There's positives to take from it. Jack had another good game and defensively we actually look solid and comfortable. Goldson, McGregor, Flanagan and Katic have been outstanding so far.

However we don't create very much at all and we dropped 2 points. I'm worried about how little we create to be honest.

  8. He got it wrong regarding the subs. He's obviously still learning as a manager but things like this is the reason I didn't want a rookie manager in charge of us as we aren't (or shouldn't be) a place to learn.

The frustrating thing is that we done the hard bit and went a goal up with ten men and I thought the defence was outstanding- we should have seen that out, but we didn't and are chasing celtic already first day of the season - it's unacceptable.

You and I agree on most things football, especially on player ability, but we disagree on Jack.

I genuinely think he’s a good player. We definitely need better than him creatively in midfield alongside him but I think he’s up to the standard of being a regular in a title winning side as a holding player.

    Nah just can’t agree

I think that Osijek would have put out any SPFL team with the exception of celtic.

However I do agree that we aren’t close enough to them yet, and won’t win the league with the team as it currently stands.

I had hoped there would be a couple of big signings but that is looking increasingly remote.

We’ll know where we are after the first four or five games, but tomorrow will give us a good indication.

Last paragraph spot on - these games aren’t the measure of anyone good or bad which is why I find the Jack fest strange - we set ourselves up for these falls constantly - I need a lot more to change my mind on him

even then I’m not being critical on the players - they are battling and giving their all under Gerrard which is great but we need proper quality middle to front which just isn’t there

Disagree with coulibally, ive watched him fairly closely, albeit through the telly and see a very good player. Id have him before that donkey nitcham any day

He’s a big bruiser good at charging in and winning 50-50’s but technically and on the ball he’s very poor

I thought against Osijek at Ibrox we were technically quite poor in midfield and upfront but we battled and showed a lot of energy and passion which is good in itself but only gets you so far

But it has not been one good game though has it, last season he had a mare through injury and questionable refereeing decisions but imo his quality has always been there, mentally he is also strong to get right into Gerrards team after all that, I would think Stevie Gerrard knows a good player when he sees one after playing and training with 100's throughout his career, and if he rates Ryan Jack that will do for me.

I’ve seen plenty of Ryan Jack to know we need a lot better to win the title ... likewise Ejaria and Coubally ... we won’t win much with that midfield - trust me

I’ll let everyone else get carried away though if it makes them feel good

I wouldn't argue with pop-up shops, shop-in-shops or concessions. They are a great way to focus attention at low cost in a business already drawing suitable retail traffic. That should be the way we go in future, in a retail partnership or independently. You do a deal to get 2 metres of window space and a few square metres of floor space against a prominent in-store wall as part of someone else's business.

But our airport stores have historically been loss makers and there isn't enough casual non-domestic tourist traffic through Glasgow airport, or to Ibrox for football reasons, that would ever make an airport store viable.

    Sensible thoughts

hence why you’d never have a position at our club

Didn't know how to tag haha.

Not just singling you out btw @K.A.I - just seem to remember you saying Ryan jack was shite ?

This is typical of RM and Rangers fans in general one decent game and the cocks are out for average players

listen Osijek aren’t a good team and in the end we scraped through it was a battling performance not a classy one - we are miles off being a good team and we never learn

roll on Aberdeen tomorrow for a proper gauge

Do you have a rough estimate for a price? (Trying to work out if I can do this trip)

What does everyone usually do for accomodation? Hostels are cheap as fuck but don't know if I fancy it although probably wouldn't be in it much

I booked my mate straight after I booked my group and it had jumped about £100 to around £360 or so ... the flights might come down a bit once the flurry dies off or it could go higher, no one knows ... I’ve got quotes from coach companies and they are more expensive than the Budapest ones I ran last week .. I think they will be something like £30-£35 a skull (at a guess going on figures I’ve got just now)

hotels are like anywhere else - there’s something to match your budget just depends what you want to pay really
