  1. People envy celtic and contrast them with us but really in the grand scheme of things they are only in the group stages to make up the numbers, they more or less admit that they are going for 3rd before a ball is kicked. Their supporters lap it up for now but for how much longer?. When they realise how utterly futile their attempts to compete are against the superclubs will they keep buying tickets year after year? Yes they'll get the champions league money, making the league in Scotland a cert for them, but nowhere near enough to compete with chelseas, bayerns and the rest. And what good is 3rd in the champions league? In previous years a club from a smaller country could have a real stab at the Europa league, but with automatic qualification to the champions league for the winners then the clubs from the countries with the tv money actually want to win it meaning you've got no chance. celtic and Anderlecht etc are in effect the Hamilton and Particks of the champions league. At the moment they are happy to be patronised by people complimenting the atmosphere and suchlike pish but sooner or later the big clubs will cut them adrift altogether when people stop watching foregone conclusions. The problem is the tv money genie is out the bottle and fuck knows what can be done about it.
  2. I remember that Red Star team well, one of the best to ever play the game. Think they were the first European team ever to beat Bayern Munich in Munich. Just about everyone of those 11 players ended up playing in Serie A within 2 years, which was the place to be at the time. We will never see the like of that team again, a team from a small country that could bring through a group with that talent and keep them together for a few years until they became a great team. Every few year Ajax, for example, have what looks to be a team of young players that come through and look like they could do something great, then along come the lazy bastards from the cash rich football countries that cant be fucked or don't know how to develop their own players and buy half their team.Anderlecht looked good against Man utd last season but everyone knew that all their best players would be gone before the start of this season. They are then back to square one, probably wondering what is the point. All the while UEFA looks on and does nothing, too scared of the super clubs lest they fuck off and make their own completion. How sad it is that clubs like Ajax, Porto and Red star are nothing now but talent nurseries.Fuck UEFA, Barcelona, psg, man utd and the whole lot of them.
  3. Well I was born then and though it is true to say that there was decent players in that team outwith Maradona there is no way on gods earth that they would have got anywhere near the final, let alone win it, without him. I believe that the Argentinal teams that Messi has played with have contained better players on the whole than the one Maradona helped win the world cup. Maybe ive let my dislike of barcelona colour my opinion of Messi as a player, I don't think so though, ive admitted hes one of the greats. Just not as good as Maradona.
  4. Well I can remember Maradona and let me assure you he fuckin well was, and to my mind so was Johan cruyff, cant really say about pele cos he was before my time. But then all old cunts think the players of their youth were better than those of the present.
  5. Apparently it looks like there is a real chance that Argentina might not qualify, I reckon the competition will be poorer without him but I cant say I'm that upset about it. To me he puts on this false humility whereas in reality he is every bit as big an egotistical prick as Ronaldo who at least doesn't try to hide the fact. All the talk of him being the best ever must surely stop if he doesn't make it, after all Maradonna won the fucking thing on his tod, and that's when defenders could kick lumps out you without getting booked. Maybe I'm just bitter after his anti football dig from a few years back but I honestly feel though hes one of the greats hes not in the all time top three.
  6. I remember watching the final which turned out a poor game with Milan having a right off night, if we had got there I reckon we would have had a real chance against the Milan that turned up that particular night, great a team as they undoubtedly were.
  7. Think we only got 900 tickets for that game, I was absolutely sick I never got as id been to Bochum and Bruges and thought id been in with a shout for one but failed in the ballot. I mind watching the game and when durrant scored all I could thinkof was getting to munich for the final. Fuck sake, thinking back everything seemed possible then.
  8. Wouldn't say Jackson is a hater as such, he is however a pathetic excuse for a journalist, a coward who watches the way the wind is blowing as regards what he thinks is public opinion and then forms his own to suit and writes it.I have to admit having more and more doubts about the managers ability to do this job but I will not give any credence whatsoever to anything written by a tit such as Jackson.
  9. A strange assessment with regards to mccrories display. Just about everyone I spoke to after the game thought he had a very good game, easily our best player, made a couple of excellent tackles in the first half especially. Its clear to see that if he carries in in this way then he will have a big future.I think youre at it.
  10. Its not a popular view on here but I genuinely think English is a journalist in the real sense, he tells it as he sees it without agendas, sometimes we wont like it. In contrast most of the cowards like to see what way the wind is blowing before they offer their opinion, no way would they go against the tide. You would never get Jackson criticising brown, he could practically commit murder on the park and it would go unmentioned by most of these spineless bastards. I believe that English has far more integrity than the like of most of these people, and certainly more than spiers who has maintained a career on being seen as the go to twat when it comes to sticking it to us.
  11. They are a fair bit better than us and everyone else but you have to take into account how poor the rest of us really are. It wouldn't take a team of world beaters to dominate this league, the league is without doubt the lowest standard it has ever been. By a mile. Anyone arguing with that would just need to be reminded of the fact that no Scottish team outside celtic has survived in Europe past august in god knows how long. Our teams lose to teams from Luxembourg, Cyprus, Lithuania and all sorts. In short we are all pish. They do play some good football but there is no way they could play this style against half way decent opposition. Both the Rangers and celtic teams of 10 years ago would've seen them off fairy easily in my opinion. It doesn't alter the fact though that the are miles better than us, which of course is what we need to worry about. Much as I hate to admit they do have a good manager who gets the best out what hes got and that's where they have an advantage over us.
  12. I was quite encouraged by the first half yesterday, at least we competed. The 2nd half though was every bit as bad a performance as the five one games, utterly outclassed if we are honest and showed the gap between us to be probably as big as between celtic and all the other non runners in this farce of a league. Those shouting for new men at the top and big investment never say how they envisage we could achieve this. I am afraid we are stuck with what weve got and that means gradual improvement, adding quality bit by bit in every transfer window. It also means getting everything right, managerial appointments, player additions and the academy. And that's the hard bit, and the bit where we can justifiably point the finger at the board. We never spent massively in the summer but for what we have spent we should be comfortably better than all the others bar celtic and we quite clearly are not, that 2nd half was was pitiful and unacceptable and probably would be like watching the Barcelona derby.
  13. Ive said this before but Jackson is one of the worst, I remember him comparing scott brown to the incomparable paul gasgcoine shortly after brown signed for celtic. I was naturally aghast that someone who wants to be taken seriously could do such a thing. It all became clear later when his paper hung two of our players out to dry over the so called boozegate incident. The sun later alleged that brown had been involved also but that Jackson had kept his name out of it due to brown being his man for info at parkhead. I remember Jackson threatening to sue but don't remember him actually doing so. He is a shite writer to boot, copying the style exactly of his now nemesis jim traynor, and now it seems he thinks he is writing for some so called lads mag. In short he he is a fraud and a wanker of the highest order.
  14. Ive said it before Jackson is the worst journalist out there, this is the sort of inane pish that passed for humour in the fanzines of old. The sort of crap that cosgrove and cowan are still flogging to death on Saturday teatime on the radio. No cunt over 15 could possibly find this funny.
  15. Read a few posters commenting on Morelos temperament, I honestly don't know where the fuck this comes from . He temperament is no worse than anyone elses.
  16. What happened was exactly what any cunt with half a brain would've predicted. Mayweather let it go to the latter rounds so that the mugs that paid for it would think they had witnessed an actual contest. You never know, with the way he spends money he might need the mugs again. Mcgregor for his part will be delighted that hes made the money he has without getting seriously hurt, that's about as much as he could ever have expected.Thank fuck its done with to be honest and that's the last we will hear of it. Till the rematch.
  17. I will be glad when this fiasco is over and done with. Sky sports news are doing my head in with their shameless plugging of it, trying as best they can to get every last mug out there to part with their hard earned cash to watch what would be, if its not a fix, a foregone conclusion. As it gets nearer I'm thinking that Mayweather will let it go the distance, or near it, just so the mugs might fall for this sort of shite again.
  18. I am starting to have concerns over whether the manager is able to get the best out of what is an improved squad from last year. Leaving that aside it is common sense to say a larger spend on the squad would improve our chances, that's a given. The genuine question I would ask, and not in a facetious way, is where exactly is this new board with large amounts of money to invest going to come from? Until this changes, other than give up, we will have to maximise what potential we do have and that's getting a manager that can make the very best of what weve got, and at this point in time it looks doubtful whether pedro can do this.
  19. I thought he did ok again yesterday, certainly didn't deserve to be subbed while miller stayed on the pitch. For me our problems are in the wide areas of the team, both full backs and further forward. I'm reasonably happy with the rest of the team, people were/are saying we need a goalscorer but if you supply him with chances then morelos will score goals. Yesterday we simply never made chances and a lot of that was to do our complete lack of quality out wide.
  20. Super Ally Mcoist without a shadow of a doubt, but if pedro doesn't improve things rapidly then I may have reappraise my view.
  21. Plus that Agueroooo shout gets more and more bent every time you hear it. I take it that was him, apologies if not.
  22. A bit of a shame really, not in the sense that hes leaving but in the sense he wasted his time here pretty much in the same way he seems to have wasted his career so far. He does have some real ability only not nearly as much as he seems to think.
  23. Ive never had much time for Jackson, most of any respect I had for his views on football disappeared when he compared Scott brown to Gazza, then all of any respect I had for him as a journalist disappeared when he hung our players out to dry over the boozegate thing while allegedly deliberately covering up his bum chum browns part in the incident. That melodramatic piece of pish for an article is sadly representative of what passes for wit in sports journalism up here.
  24. I took from it the same as a lot of other people and that is that we are headed in the right direction but where we are weak in all the wide areas especially the full back positions. If we can get that sorted then I will be fairly happy with our prospects. Unfortunately it could take another 2 transfer windows to sort.
  25. He scored quite a few from distance in finland. I reckon he could score all sorts of goals, just like a certain mr Mcoist. He seems to have that knack that you cant teach.
