Pedro Caixinha on Carlos Pena: He will be a big player for Rangers but he needs time to adjust and become fitter
PEDRO Caixinha has revealed Carlos Pena still needs “a little more time” before he is ready to make a regular contribution to the Rangers team. The Mexican is one of nine new summer signings but didn’t feature in the Europa League loss to Progres Niederkorn and then only fleetingly in the home friendly against Marseille.
With Ryan Jack and Graham Dorrans the two likely starters in the central midfield area in Caixinha’s preferred 4-4-2 set-up, Pena may need to bide him time before forcing his way in. But his manager is confident the 27-year-old will make an impact once he has properly bedded in and is fitter.
“When you have a group, especially a new group of players with 10 new players coming to this massive club, they are players you know are going to adapt easier than others,” said Caixinha. “Carlos came with another Mexican [Eduardo Herrera] and the other Mexican adapted differently than him. So it’s not about being a Mexican, it’s more about yourself.
“We are definitely very glad to have Pena with us. He’s a great player and he is going to show very good things in this football. It’s just a case of him adapting and needing a little more time.
“We are all the time giving him that confidence and all the time giving him that support. We know he is growing day by day and he is adapting. He wants more day by day and that is the important thing.
“Pena is starting to know that the game here is more physical so you have less time and less space. He needs to understand that and that comes with a rhythm that we are trying to get him into.
“He also needs to get fitter so he is working hard to make sure his body is ready for when he is called into action. He will totally get it that he won’t have the same amount of time and space because the good players and the clever players anticipate the actions. He just needs to get the right rhythm and the right fitness.”
Caixinha described Pena as a versatile player but one who would thrive in an attacking central midfield role.
“Pena is that type of box to box player. He is a really offensive player, those players who easily get in the opponent’s box. He can score goals, he can assist. He can play in all of the offensive roles, but especially in the middle of the park.
“If you ask me where he can play, and the formation that we are using now, he can play with two in the middle and the one that goes further forward. Or he can play as a shadow striker. Or even a little bit on the left coming inside. But mainly within the central spine, that’s his position.
“We have options and that makes me very happy because last season that was something in the middle of the park we were struggling. Now we have a strong middle of the park and we have strong options, not only for the players playing now but also those who are on the back placing that competitiveness within the team. That allows us also to be competitive when we face opponents.”

I think they've deluded themselves into believing the lies and stories they've invented in their own heads. They've invented a story of good and evil and they're on the good side. Obviously this is in massive contradiction to the reality of Scotland in 2017, where they're every bit as bad if not worse than the supposed bigots they're railing against.

It's not delusion. She's a season ticket holder I believe. Is she seriously telling us she's never heard a Lee Rigby song or seen a paramilitary banner before, during or after a game? Of course she fucking has, she's a liar and she's trying to deflect from the fact that the mask has well and truly slipped.

Nope, it's just that circumstances have conspired such that it's harder for you and the rest of the media in Scotland to brush over it. Largely because of the frequency of your fans' shite behaviour of late, that it involves some high profile people, and that it's happened in games in England and against Ulster teams where people are less likely to whitewash it. That's made it impossible for the likes of the DR and yourself to ignore it or minimise it the way you usually would.

Some positives, the youngsters did fairly well.  Beerman and Wilson were quite good and Barjonas looks like he could be a top player.
But overall not good enough and a clear out is desperately needed

I was meaning in terms of the media witch-hunt given that tax avoidance schemes are ten-a-penny in high wage industries never mind one like football. The whole thing was well OTT whatever the verdict but the media, football clubs, other supporters, and the governing bodies really crucified us. That's despite the fact it wasn't even what caused us to go bust. It was used simply to demonise us and deliberately mixed up with the Whyte ownership and going bust for that purpose.
If you look at what happens in England there can be no doubt our media is a vindictive circus.
I don't see how you can let rip though except in a very general way because to do a proper job you'd need to be going after many people who are in the media like Speirs, Thompson, Daly and papers like the Record themselves. You'll remember I showed you that the Record revealed the Whyte fraud two days before administration yet still slaughtered us. So slated us despite revealing we were the victims of a crime. That's the extent of what we were up against. It's the same with the likes of Speirs always making us out to be hate filled bigots.
I don't see what you can do because they wouldn't even publish a true account of what took place and you'd be sticking a knife in yourself with regards to a career in the media. The sad thing about it is if you control the narrative in the media you control what people know and thus believe. It's the same even in more important fields like politics.
Even a generalised account though would be an improvement from what we've seen. Until now only Traynor and Walter have said anything. It's because so many of our people get paid by the cunts. Even rich ex-players have said nothing. Its good that you want to right enough but just don't see how you can in any meaningful way.

Tbh mate, what I did see of that thread was a total embarrassment so I'm not really interested in reading the rest of it.
I don't really care much for the royal family myself so I wouldn't get offended if someone on here shared a different/controversial view on them anyway. Much the same with the religious debate, if someone expresses an opinion on this forum that goes against the norm on that subject then they instantly become a target. I don't really have any interest in that debate either.
As I said, my main concern was that people are criticising the guy for making a living just because they don't like the paper he's writing for. If they don't buy or read it then why do they care?

    @The Dude
What's your thought on Blogging about the following:
The hush up of paedophilia in Scottish football and the protection of the current champions (Penn State punishment comparisons).
The way we have been treated by football authorities including 5 way agreement, fines for admin compared to Hertz, Dundee.
The sectarian issue on BOTH sides of the divide. Walters bananas, monkey mimicking at Diouf, refugee chants and fuck off home by Griffiths all seem to have been forgotten. Whereas the SC semi final IRA themed banner has just been ignored.
State aid - How was the CGAMES carved up again?

Each of these has impacted directly upon us or indirectly by allowing our city enemy to remain in a power of strength compared to others in similar situations.
    So how's about it?

    Nice one.
Already said it but good luck to you, we need more Rangers men in positions like this. Sitting back and letting the tarriers run the media, councils and governments is not the way to go.
Also hope this means the Hibs fan stops getting paid to go to Ibrox.

Wrap it up anyway you like, Barry Ferguson at Clyde, with one of the bigger budgets in the 4th tier, against other part-time bosses with similar restrictions, FAILED in his remit to get them promoted and left them in 8th place out of 10.
ie. he hasn't proved himself as yet, has just instilled more doubts wrt his ability in a dug-out / training pitch and if Rangers weren't knocking on his door wouldn't have had any offers from other teams at a reasonable to decent level.

If there is not a great deal of coaching involved then his role would be to articulate Pedro's ideas and ideals to the playing staff, he would also need to communicate to Pedro his knowledge of Scottish football.  If you think BF is capable of being articulate and a great communicator then sadly no one is going to change your mind.  BF has both a good football brain and a brain like a football not an ideal partner for a coach with a masters degree in psychology.  A psychiatrist, on the other hand, may enjoy working with BF.
