Morning

Hard to disagree (but I will try hahaha not)

I think we miss the wide men more than the fullback side of things, defend from the front and all that. We had no "out" ball yesterday, where as in previous games, we could dink it out to DMB or Novo, or even Miller. Yesterday, for the first time in a while, we had no width and I think that was the main thing. Personally, I would have been tempted to throw on Little or Fleck rather than Edu and have them a bit wider, but, cant complain when they are spitting feathers

Agree with both posts, if we're on the back foot we really need good fullbacks but if we had wingers/widemen playing we'd be pushing the opposition back so their wide men would be forced into a more defensive role.

There's no substitute for width and pace.

I really can't believe how many shitey tackles we put in yesterday - we lost so many 50-50s it was unreal. No pace no movement, we seemed surrounded by sellick everytime we got the ball, yet they had all the time in the world to pass and create.

I agree with ur first point D'Artagnan although broadfoot is a vast improvement to Whittaker. At least he was showing him the outside most of the time. Thought when Novo went off he would have brought on Stevie Smith, kept Davis in the middle and gave Broadfoot and Papac a bit more protection.

For me Davis is the main man everything we do attack wise comes through him. he's the only midfielder we have at the moment with a little bit of guile and can spot a pass as well as link with the front 2

both fullbacks are really mediocre centre halves being played out of position hence when fast tricky players go at them they struggle. as for their use of a ball nuff said. in the modern game fbs must be able to press forward at the right times and get delivery into the box . two full backs requd

Even-though he wasn't being played at full-back, it was another powderpuff challenge from Whittaker which McGeady stepped by to set up their first goal.

Papac uncharacteristically had an absolute stinker yesterday, and Broadfoot got tore to shreds at times.

Only trouble is we DONT have the fit wide men - and thats were a small pool hurts us. Also McGreedy was good yesterday but we coped and normally do - there is no doubt with more threat wide from us he has to track back more and is less effective but we showed NOTHING going forward - Novo going off was a blow as Edu was well of the pace and the lack of bite in midfield was shocking - even McGreedy made a couple of tackles and won the ball ffs. Still that draw felt like a win it was such a 'get out of jail free' game.

First Point - Disagreed.

Whether we like it or not, the plastic one on his day, whilst still clearly lacking a quality finished product, is as good as anyone at skinning fullbacks and has done it against the best. Hutton dealt best with him but we chose, wrongly IMO, to cash in on him for £9 million.

Second point - Agreed.

So you're agreeing with his first point then? <cr>

mcgeady should get a fucking sore one from ANYCUNT in the first 5 mins, it showed in tel aviv this year that his game goes to pot when that happens

Spot-on mate. Hutton did it regularly against him and he then drifts out of the game. His final delivery is usually shocking as well

If he totally ran riot yesterday, how come he didn't score? How come many of his end products resulted in nothing?

One assist does not equal running riot.

We got a draw with a depleted team. What more do you want? We went for a draw and got it. Played the game safe, scored an equaliser when it was needed. Should have been a little more attack minded and maybe could have come away with a win had we been attack minded.

But McGeady runs around a lot, doesn't win them games though.

He was going past our players for fun.

If McGeady (on yesterday's form) was feeding a frontline that had the movement and finishing of Boyd and Miller, he'd have had three or four assists.

Too be fair to Papac he was recovering from a virus and this may have made an impact in his performance yesterday. Broadfoot just needs to grow a set when he comes up against mcgeady. You could actually smell and see the fear in his eyes. There is nothing better for a winger to know that your opponent fears you runnning at him. It just gives you the confidence to run at your opponent all day. Broadfoot made him look good yesterday and probably added a good few million onto his January pricetag. This really incensed me as he is not that good. Broadfoot just shat from him yesterday and looked like he was towing a caravan everytime that ugly wee mick came near him.

Hutton has been gone for 3 years now (ish) McGreedy is only 23 (an likely only a teenager when playing against Hutton) and is likely to have improved in that time - we may not like it but he is a decent player with some neat tricks and pace (couldnae shoot woth a fk yesterday - thank fk)- and for all the old firm games he has played in that is his best as he often goes missing. Broadfott did OK against him and has alos done much better.

We need two tireless full backs who will get up and down the wing all day in support and overlap who can get back and defend and genuine wide players to boot... I would say we need the fullbacks first but who knows if that will ever change just because Broadfoot and Papac "Do a solid job"...

McGeady can have as many tricks as he wants, he has no end product.

In all honesty, the entire bheastly team has no end product as a rule! Dont know why anyone worries about playing them any more. I dont see them as a threat at all. They are another example, a bit like Burns team, who play pretty, and do fuck all! I will take our performance over theirs yesterday in a heartbeat

Well I think he did run riot testerday....as others have attested to... had they had better finishers we would probably not even been at the races.

If we are to have any aspirations about progressing in Europe I think we as a priority we need two decent full backs.
