Jimfanciesthedude 24,922
Barry Ferguson walked out on us while he was captain of The Rangers, and went to Blackburn . I won't forget that quickly. He'll never be a playing legend in my eyes. this fergie fucked off when it suited him, came back cause it suited him, helped in the downfall of a manager because it suited HIM (shite manager or not, fergie SHOULD have backed le guen) i have nothing personal to say about the guy, but the way he acted at times as our captain was shocking
Muff 245
Some of the muck people post on here about him is disgraceful, and would be more at home on a Tim board. He won us a treble, took us to a European final, and fought like hell for the jersey. A true Ranger. A true Ranger who turned his back on the club, aye right! The squad, as a whole won the treble, took us to a European final....not Barry Ferguson!
kaiser1041 9,088
IMO Barry ferguson is rangers legend.who played throught the pain barrier for us a number of times.don't know his personality but he brought up a kid that wasn't his taking all the sh1t that comes with that.so to me the guy can't be that bad

BLUEDIGNITY 33,709
I agree there's a strange amount of slandering that goes on towards him. However! My personal favourate thing I know about him is when he signed his first big contract with us he'd burn £20 notes in front of my flatmate and his friends to piss them off Another case of tell a lie long enough and people will believe it. This is an old make on charlie nicholas doin it in his charlie days. The difference is a was there when nicholas did it !
simon 1,758
Always be a legend in my eyes, was gutted when he left for Blackburn and TBH he shouldn't of come back but he did. Have heard a few stories about him being a bit of an arsehole away from football though.

likeacare 9
Barry is a legend. He isn't perfect but none of us are. Who here would pass the over stringent analysis that some of our fans apply to him?
Emerson 2
The amount of lies upon here about Barry Ferguson and his power at Rangers are staggering. For an ex-Rangers captain, someone who played through injury etc. for the club, some fans on here are dragging his name through the mud on the basis of hearsay. Firstly let me say I am not a Ferguson fan. The few members on here that personally know me will testify that, I thought he brought virtually nothing to the team since his return from Blackburn. But even I would never stoop to the level some "fans" on here are about our ex-captain. Before the bias-remarks flood in, I have fully acknowledged Fergie's part in the PLG downfall. I accept this, but this incident has been the basis for anyone to slander his name and for it to be accepted as fact. Such remarks as: Ferguson held back youngsters such as Efrem etc. with negative criticism (absolute BULLSHIT, I know a friend who was one of the caterers at Murray Park, he said Ferguson would often eat with the youngsters at meals and encourage them/advise them on how to progress) Ferguson refused Mendes to be paid higher wages than him (at the time, Rangers offered Mendes approximately £28,000 a week inc. appearance, match win and goal bonuses). The fact that the Mendes deal was all but completed when Ferguson was on a family holiday should confirm this. Does anyone honestly believe Walter wouldn't of told Ferguson to get the f*ck out of the club if he'd came in and spat the dummy out? Ferguson called Murray park his "own" etc. Apparently this was a running joke between players, with himself, Boyd, McCulloch and McGregor all creating nicknames for the place depending on who was retrospectively performing the best. It would be the joking equivalent of "Mount Murray" replacing Henman Hill in tennis. I don't overly appreciate Ferguson as a player since his early days, but I think some fans who seem to hate him more than their love for the intergrity of Rangers need to take a hard look at themselves. Posting slanderous statements with no quotes/basis is something i'd expect of Tims, not Rangers fans. All in all i'm glad hes left us, but the abuse he takes is shocking and disgusting for an ex-Rangers captain.
Carsons Army 4,146
I agree completely with the OP Some of the stuff is ridiculous, you would think he was a tim No ! thats his wife and kids and the 50 seater of inlaws and friends he took to Manchester and provided tickets for. Maryann 0
i wasn't his biggest fan but he did win 5 SPL Titles 5 League Cups & 5 scottish Cups! he was a very good player before he went to Blackburn, wasn't the same when he came back (prob to do with his injury) but the abuse he takes from rengers fans is a bit harsh at times! Emerson 2
Okay then if that's the lies how about the truths. As Rangers and Scotland captain he put himself in an indefencible position with the boozegate incident. And rather than take his punishment on the chin,he defied Walters advice in the process. Not that that was his first lack of respect shown,we all know that he didn't leave Plg to try and do his job. The bloke tarnished his Rangers career by forgetting what a priveledged position he was in,that's if he knew in the first place. ..

NorthernLights 2,526
On his day, Ferguson was one of the top midfielders in Europe. We had European games where he completely ran the show. Before he went to Blackburn, he was Scotland's best player. After he returned, he was very average.

markybear 136
Barry shud b knighted on the grounds that he got PLG chased fae glesga. The only place rangers were goin under his management was the 1st division. After every game his answer to every mhedia question was "we try to find the solution" -that was all he said, it used to do my nut. I hated PLG by the end, nuffin to do with Barry, just cud not go the man. Cudnt pick a decent defence/goalkeeper if it bitchslapped his face. Apart from barrys yrs of service/titles/euro campaigns, we shud also remember he helped get rid of that frog with NO solutions

Ferguson had talent, of that there is no doubt. He had many positives but also many negatives. In the end the bad outweighed the good and he had to go. PLG was fuckin useless, had rangers embarressed on many occasions with poor results against small teams, I actually dreaded watching rangers in his reign so forgive me for revelling in his departure. IMO he was in Glasgow 6 months too many. Ye and THIS is the reason were a footy backwater? Not the size of country(therefore proportionate to availible players), The poor grassroots level development footy for the youngsters, red blaze pitches and gettin continuously fuked over by that prick platini at uefa. Oh And poor tv deals doesnt help either. But ur rite my comment about that useless frog is the real reason. Get real mate

Get real mate I'm not going to defend PLG, he evidently wasn't the right man for Rangers at that time and we could debate the reasons for it and never reach an agreeable conclusion. The main reason we are a footballing backwater is because of the mongoloid mentality most people in the country have towards the game and the type of player they like to see on the park.
