PaulRFC1 115
MIDDLESBROUGH have made a £3.5million bid for Celtic striker Scott McDonald. Boro manager Gordon Strachan has met what he believes is Celts' valuation of McDonald who is recovering from a hernia operation. The offer will be highly tempting following the arrival of £1.8m Morten Rasmussen. Now it's up to Celts boss Tony Mowbray and chief executive Peter Lawwell to decide if they want to cash in. Hoops skipper Stephen McManus is in limbo over his loan move to the Riverside. Big Mick is keen to move, but Boro are refusing to pay Celts' £500,000 loan fee. Interesting , seems as if Gordon Strachan is turning Middlesbrough into c*ltic. If this goes through then Boyd should be worth 7million if his contract wasn't expiring. Creampuff 22,628
I would be delighted to see McDonald leave.Although, a 500k loan fee for McManus? He's not even worth that!

simon 1,744
I would be more than happy to see him leave the only one of their strikers that looks a genuine threat.
Chambo 197
£3.5m??? Fucking hell. I'd like to see MacDonald go because he has a knack of scoring against us, but £3.5m??? No way he's worth that amount!
Creampuff 22,628
I'd love him to go for £3.5 Million. Because they'd give the money to Mowbray

Blue Stars Bearette 1
'Morten Rasmussen will make his Celtic debut against Hibs tonight as Tony Mowbray makes the changes he hopes will turn the Hoops into a mean, green, scoring machine. But the Parkhead boss has shot down speculation that the arrival of the 24-year-old Dane will automatically mean a quick exit for leading scorer Scott McDonald.' BlueSuedeSambas 54,252
If this goes through then Boyd should be worth 7million if his contract wasn't expiring. No he shouldn't. Both of them have very similar records, and both would probably fetch between 3.5-4 million in the current market.

radlord 24
Good. It would be hard to replace his goals for £3.5m. Though I do want him to stay as he clearly hates Gargoyle-features and isn't playing well under him anyway.
mark_ni 12
thats a fair valuation for mcdonald imo. He has a similar scoring record to boyd, not quite as good but then he has scored goals against big sides in europe that boyd hasnt. I would say with decent time on their contracts they would both command similar fees. Would love it if mcdonald left, hes their best striker by a mile. Always regretted that we didnt sign him. Cant stand him now hes there as hes turned into a right dirty wee prick ( the celtic effect) but for the money he would have been a good signing for us.
