Campaign to have WW2 titles recognised.

i don't want anything we won during the wars to count.

if other clubs want to count them then that's up to them but i find it completely disrespectful to every single person who fought for our country.

Fair point. What about the guys who played for us whilst dealing with the war. Don't you think it's disrespectful to them not to include their titles they played for and won, I do??

What about the respect for the men who played in our team. To not have their achievements noticed is a bit of a slap in the face.

It's time to start counting them I say.

We've done enough over the years to show our support for the veterans and we will continue to do so every year.

But right now the football club needs to come first because we're under attack from every direction, adding 7 more titles that were rightfully won on the pitch would be a sign of us flexing our muscle and showing the rest of them they'll never come close to Rangers.

If what Dean said is true that it was an unofficial league set up to take minds off the war then it puts the whole thing to bed, there's no official titles to campaign for

I believe now is the right time to campaign to have the WW2 titles recognised, given that full participation took place with all the big teams and full seasons.

There are a number of justifications:

Full Seasons

Full participation

Aberdeen and Hibs quote their honours as official during this period - Rangers don't - this is key in the arguments

Celtics WW1 titles stand - another injustice - in England WW1 titles are not counted

Actually 7 full leagues were played during WW2

1939-40

Division 1 (this is only short campaign)

Rangers 1st, Celtic 4th when it finished

Full Campaign

Rangers 1st, Celtic 13th

War cup - Rangers winners

1940-41 League

Rangers 1st, Celtic 5th

League Cup - Rangers Winners

1941-42 League

Rangers 1st, Celtic 3rd

League Cup - Rangers Winners

1942-43 League

Rangers 1st, Celtic 10th

League Cup Winners - Rangers

1943-44 League

Rangers 1st, Celtic 2nd

League Cup Winners - Hibs beat us 6-5 on corners, included in their honours

1944-45 League

Rangers 1st, Celtic 2nd

League Cup Winners - Rangers

1945-46 League

Rangers 1st, Celtic 4th

League Cup Winners - Aberdeen, included in their honours

There seems no justification for these other clubs including honours and ours not standing, as well as Celtic including theirs for WW1.

As well as winning 7 titles we also won 5 cups, 4 league cups and a war cup.

In total we have been denied 12 trophies in total!

With all the talk of us losing trophies - we should have these 12 included in our honours. Others have - Hibs and Aberdeen.

The worst should be Celtic stripped of their WW1 titles but tbh it would be fairer just to include our 12. The main justification for taking their titles is that in England, these were suspended during WW1 - why should they have these. It's totally biased and wrong, not just morally but factually.

Sporting integrity would demand that these titles should be added. If Aberdeen and Hibs include in their honours then there is no reason why we don't include in ours.

Unveil the 6th star! :uk::UK::uk::UK::uk::UK:

61 and counting.

Rangers 8 Celtic 1.

We welcome the chase.

No. Just no.

The Second World War was an unofficial league set up as a morale booster for the nation. It included guest players go teams etc. It was also split into north/south regions unlike the ww1 league titles.

In short the league was not suspended in ww1 and the league was in ww2 - just leave it and focus on 55 asap - that's the Rangers Way

Yeah, but in 1914-18 huge numbers of players left to go the war (many never returning) and latterly northern clubs were asked (and accepted) not to compete. The two titles, one won by Rangers and one won by sellic during late WW1 are included in honours lists, despite Dundee, Raith Rovers, Aberdeen etc, etc having been asked not to compete in those two seasons.

I mean, realistically I don't think either WW1 or WW2 should be included in the 'Scottish Champions' list of each club's honours, because there's so many factors that make those seasons different. But at the same time the players should be recognised.

I think maybe I'd like for some separate columns of 'Wartime Scottish Champions (WW1)' and ' Wartime Scottish Southern League Champions (WW2)/ Wartime Scottish Northeastern League Champions (WW2)' to be created.

Allowing their players to fight for Britain springs to mind.

At least one of their players died fighting during WW1. I think some of them chose to sign up the same way players in other teams did, even though they weren't required to because footballers were exempted from conscription.

After listening to the vile cunt cosgrove on radio scotland earlier I would love us to pursue the official recognition of these titles as it would make that bastard's head explode, and that can only be a good thing.

I take it he was greetin about title stripping?

Right can we put this to bed now.

The League during WWI was the official Scottish League, despite the northern clubs being asked not to play and a few southern clubs, such as the original, original, Clydebank, being drafted in in their place.

In WW2 all football was officially suspended. The competitions that ran were not official tournaments. The league we played in was called the Southern League.

Most teams had guest players to fill in the numbers that weren't contracted to the club.

Its not hard to see why this doesn't count.
