What say the RST and pals?

The first team should be two or three experienced pro blended with youth, we wouldn't have to keep ripping it up and starting again if the management had any form of long term planning.

I'd rather we kept our powder dry till we get back to the SPL as it will take serious investment to challenge Celtic.

Haven't the majority of the signings this summer and last been fairly Young (Young enough that they will make up the spine of our team in the SPL)? Haven't the older players generally been given deals which expire the summer prior to our expected return to the SPL?

A squad of around 25 of which 2/3 are experienced pros?

If we only signed players on wages relative to the league we are in then we would need to rebuild every season as they simply won't cut it after promotion. Do you think Queens will romp division one with their squad which won the second division?

Law

Foster

Daly

McCulloch

Cribari

Wallace

Shiels

S. Smith

Wallace

could all be counted as experienced pros

Either way the budget to win this division is ridiculous.

Do you think the players that transferred over would have accepted vastly reduced terms once their TUPE protection ran out?

Jig alone earns more than the QOTS budget last season. Do you expect him to playbook part time wages? What about Templeton? £200 p/w to play for the biggest club in the country? Or should we have signed Joe Mbu from Cowdenbeath instead?

I dont think it needs 7.5m to win this division. Realistically it would be won on a lot less/

Again, were not just going for division two though ate we?

Again, how do we get the existing contracts which were protected by TUPE after they transferred ?

Again, by having a wage bill relative to the league we are in (let's say 750k) would see us further drastically reduce the quality of player and our support simply won't accept that.

It can be spun any way people like but this is the absolute truth of the matter.

One or two lower league players would be fine, but half a squad or more? Meltdown.

Its bad enough for guys like Ricky Foster or Kirk Broadfoot. Look at the reaction to them having signed and played for us. Some people go on like its spitting on the graves of the founders.

So you think we are getting value for money from players like Black who we are paying around 6k a week to?

You make a lot of valid points, but realistically the sort of model we are pursuing at the moment can only end in financial pain.

Some will disagree simply because it has my name attached but let me use one often used phrase on here which to me, at the very least, further reinforces my point.

He's not Rangers class.

Interesting choice of player. It's almost like you deliberately chose the one of last season's signings who splits opinion the most.

Fwiw I don't think we're getting value from Black. Although it wasn't McCoist who negotiated his deal. It was Green. Nobody ever seems to want to talk about that when it comes to our wagebill.

Lol

Have to say I love the justification of folk regarding our scandalous wage bill.

We spent 10000 times what our opponents did last year and still played the worst football in the league.

The trust should be spending more time concentrating of the complete disregard of fiscal rectitude, by a board they helped create, and a lot less time fannying about creating boardroom and fan divisions.

You have no idea which Rangers employee negotiated Black's deal, none whatsoever. You're just very transparently trying to shift blame from the actual culprit (McCoist) to a far easier target for you (Green). BTW people don't disagree with you because of your name. They disagree because you're invariably wrong. Just so you know.

Neither McCoist nor Green would have negotiated Black's contract - it would have been Andrew Dickson.

However, the board would have approved the overall player/staff budget so, as usual, any perceived blame for such issues is always collective rather than down to one person.

That is a frightening thought. Did Andrew insert a clause to ensure Black would be fined at half-time for singing offensive songs?

Haha - different Dickson mate. :)

I was talking about the one that is our Head of Football Administration. "His day-to-day role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including football finance at first-team and academy levels and player contracts."

This nonsense about saving £2m a year from Goian and Bocanegra doesn't hold water when we have apparently paid Goian in Full anyway. We are Rangers, our youngsters should be the best in the country and be getting loaned out to Div1,2,3 clubs anyway where they normally excel. Add a few decent players with experience and our full time training and higher levels of ability would see us through until next year at least. If we played with a style from our youth teams through to the 1st team the transition for the youngsters should be seamless. We have far too many players on high wages and this is simply because they are players McCoist knows he won't have to coach. There hasn't been one player McCoist or Durrant have improved in their tenure, rather some of the best SPL players from the season before last in Shiels, Black and Sandaza have gotten drastically poorer. This is a result of a clueless manager's training methods and tactics. At times we played 2/3 holding midfielders against a team of farmers, painters and factory workers who looked fitter after a 40 hour week than out full time professionals.

Given the state of Scottish football, the wage bill we have now is equal to what it should be in the top league as we are living proof paying over the odds for players is unsustainable.

We are following down the same dark road as before with chequebook management instead of investing in scouting and proper coaches to transform the club. As long as we have fans that worship Smith and McCoist simply because they are"Real Rangers Men" then its our own fault when things go tits up. How many excuses are we going to make for them, John Greig wasn't a manager and neither is McCoist.

We will reap what we sow

Agree with all of that - can someone mail it to Mather?

And another thing, our management team along with club captain Family Freebies should be embarrassed collecting EPL salaries in the league we are in and for their inept performances. If they had any decency they would renegotiate their contracts to reflect the situation the club is in, its not as if they can't afford it

I would have been delighted of we had only added a gk, CH, and rb to the squad we had.

Some of the Cash we are throwing at the 3Rd.2nd div and Ramsden Cup is scary.

I am getting worried about this and hope to fuck we don't make a mess of all this.

Says it all about our scouting /coaching system.

Scary.

Frankly frankie, once again you got it wrong.......last year CG decided the salary of individuals not dickson..............and CG vetoed a number of names off the list presented to Ally, who himself removed names prior to being sent up to CG.............once again you say something and make it sound as if you know for fact that's what happened.
