He has a pretty ropey history with Southend and seems to have an attitude problem. West Ham only offered £150,000 for him and he seems to have been hawking himself round the place. No harm looking but it doesn't sound like the type of player we need now.

Plus he'll need a mate time to bring back the Kerkar :21:

Being honest I would have brought Salim back to cover the LB position before Stevie Smith less injury issues, younger and more popular with most supporters.

If being more popular with the fans comes into signing a player we're as well chucking it.

Defender Bilel Mohsni has left Southend after having his contract terminated by mutual consent.

The controversial 25-year-old Tunisian was released by the League Two club following talks with boss Phil Brown.

Mohsni scored 18 goals in 62 league appearances for the Shrimpers, but also picked up four red and 18 yellow cards.

And his reputation was further marred by his decision to take the train home after games on two occasions, rather than travel with his team-mates.

Mohsni had a loan spell with Ipswich last September, but failed to do enough to persuade the Championship club to sign him and returned to Southend.

Midfielders Mickey Spillane, John Spicer and Alex Woodyard, and striker Elliot Benyon have also left the Shrimpers after their contracts expired.

18 goals in 62 games is some ratio for a defender ... he is a defender, isn't he?

Anyone remember that other nutter we had Moses Ashikodi? he was pulling knifes out on his teams mates on the training ground and canteen?

Mmm...doesn't sound to promising attitude wise! We really don't need any live wires at the moment causing bother! Unity and willingness to work for one another is the key at the moment! Can't judge the guy playing wise as I have never seen him and to be fair I'm sure bougherra had a bit if a reputation as well before he came and he was quality!

No harm in having a look. Some scoring record for a defender as well so clearly he's a threat in both boxes.

Bougherra was rumoured to have temper and a bad attitude when he was in England and he turned out not too bad.

Charlton if I remember and wasn’t really heard about until we looked at him.

He turned out to be a fantastic bit of business so hopefully if this comes off it can be more of the same, we are badly needing a bit of composure and bite at the back.
