Richard Dunne, Curtis Davies, the list of big earners at villa that had to be binned was quite long, huttons young-ish age meant they could farm him out on loan and reduce the wage bill etc, but now they are stuck with him, and most likely cannot afford his appearance fee on top of his wages, especially as they dont want to keep him so might as well play a young boy they wanna develop instead

Almost feel sorry for him. Frozen out at Spurs cos Redknapp didn't fancy him, frozen out at Villa cos Lambert seemingly can't afford to play him. Had 2 half decent loan spells at other clubs who were then either unable or unwilling to buy him. Probably get a couple of games at Bolton and then go back and rot away at Villa again until his contract is up.

True, though you could also argue Villa are to blame for offering him a contract they couldn't sustain. I'm sure when he signed it he never expected to end up frozen out of the team. One things for sure his next club won't be paying him anything close to that wage.
