Nowhere to hide

It’s been quite an exercise in the art of survival.

A board who have misled shareholders at AGM, hidden the identity of investors, stand accused by a section of the press of lying over the withdrawal of credit/debit card facilities for season tickets, who, in their “comprehensive” 120 day review hid/omitted to divulge details of “the sale of the century” regarding stadium naming rights, have failed to answer satisfactorily structured questions from fans groups pertaining to the long term plans for the club, who have by unethical and unedifying association with known fugitives embarrassed the name of the club, the aforesaid which sees them, again, accused of misleading supporters regarding the nature of that meeting, have found in the last few days that there is one aspect of the club that even the most resourceful or duplicitous cannot hide from the fans – the state of the product on the park.

There is even perhaps a warped sense of irony, that in the battle for our football club the ammunition or language is no longer anonymous investors, percentages or proxied shares but rather tactical ineptitude, poor performance, ill-discipline and unexplainable team selection. The current board cannot on this occasion use the convenient “get out clause” of laying the blame on previous regimes – this time it’s their call, and as thousands of bears demonstrated on Monday night as our team capitulated to Hibs, they will be held to account. In fact they already have been by thousands, the empty seats providing ample supporting evidence on that one. I fear it will get worse, much worse before it gets better.

There is nowhere, nowhere the board can hide from this one.

Monday night was a culmination rather than a knee jerk, perhaps the saddest aspect of it all was that it came as no great surprise to anyone. The failings of management, signing policy, tactics and team selection have been the subject of message board forums, supporter’s bus conversations and pre-match blethers for months.

It is not a time for emotive and unhelpful descriptive language, either positive or negative regarding Ally, but rather a regrettable acceptance and emotion free analysis that in the most important area – on the park – Ally is not capable of taking us to where we not only want, but also need to be.

There was a moment on Monday night when the cacophony of anger from the Copland Road, directed towards Ally, saw him withdraw to the dugout. It was notable that Durranty was tasked with the verbal coaching from the touchline second half.

The board should be thankful there was such a volume of noise, if they prevaricate any longer over what needs to be done, then perhaps next time we fail, it will be akin to the tree falling in the empty forest – there will only be an empty silence from the empty stands.

As always D'Art (tu)

We're in limbo now,do we carry on hoping results and performances get better and we do achieve promotion this year,or will the board do the right thing and give Ally his marching orders which could see us remain in the championship for another year which imo would be catastrophic for the club.

If we carry on hoping we'll get better,I honestly think it will be 10x worse next season if we do get into the top flight playing against the likes of the Sheep and Dundee Hibs every week.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place it seems.

If they dont bud, very soon they will have nothing to listen to.

No, instead they will see their bank accounts rise as assetts are sold/stripped/claimed.

Green will have so many twists, turns and agreements written into things in his time, the investors must know at worst their loss will be minimal after the carvery that will occur should we go into admin again.

It feels a bit like no mans land. The territory you have to cross to get where you need to be. But crossing that land is hard yards for all concerned - most of all the Support.

If the Manager is ditched by the Board before the balance of probability tilts sufficiently to indicate that winning the Championship this season is not likely (or winning promption via play offs is too uncertain) then the risk they face is to have acted prematurely and thery are then blamed for the failure. There is also no guarantee nor any reasonable certainty that a credible experienced replacement manager could even be appointed nevert mind rescuing the season if given sufficient time. So I don't see any Board being prepared to make such a call until around Dec / Jan at the earliest. They just would not take the risk that any change would make matters even worse.

Would a progressively reduced support at Ibrox tilt the balance? Don't know. But not turning up to support the team even in these wretched times is not the answer. Support is not the preserve of just the good times.

Loud though the chorus for change is and louder it may yet become but I don't see anything other than a battening down of hatches taking place at Ibrox to weather the storm and to wait and see how things look in Dec / Jan. Part of the reckoning may be that if promotion can be earned then the tide will turn for the better when everyone has top league games back on the agenda and then the fight to win a european place. I suppose a phrase that might be used is the Board and the Manager holding their nerve in these stormy football times. There are of course less charitable phrases that might be used.

It does seem that with all the off - field problems , the board have taken their eyes off the ball with what's happening on the pitch. Hopefully the reaction , particularly at half time , will make them realise that some difficult decisions need to be made regarding the football side of things as well.

And the sooner , the better.

D'art.

Your latest input to this so-called "journey", has really disappointed me.

I hate what you've just posted.

The reasons for those feelings have nothing to do with your good self.

It's the NEED for that post, thats getting every Bear more and more disalusioned with the current management and the running of our club.

I never thought I'd see myself turning. I would have given them more than they wanted.

No more.

Spot on D'art! Even though it pains me to say it!

"hidden the identity of investors"

That old chesnut.

That to keep the Blue Tims onside?

You could just have said Super is rather pish at managing our club rather than wasting 2 minutes of our lives. If you have a blog just post a link to the article instead of pasting it on here.

Result.

Heres the thing - I dont take "sides" other than what I see is best for my club.

That to me is a "result"

Back on form, OP. Much better article than the VB-sponsored deflection-fest that I read last month. :matron:

Are you referring to the article where I highlighted the considerable fabrication by an element of the press against a group of bears ?

If you are - then you ought to be ashamed of yourself BMR
