Hahaha- so they did.

Record:

CELTIC have decided against pursuing the signature of former Hearts captain Danny Wilson - leaving the path clear for the defender to return to Rangers under the new management team of Mark Warburton and David Weir.

Record Sport revealed earlier this week thatWeir had opened talks with Wilson - whom hed nurtured as a young prospect at Ibrox - even before landing the No 2 job at Rangers.

But Celtic boss Ronny Deila had admitted at the end of last season that Wilson, who led Hearts to the Championship but activated a release clause in his contract, was being considered as a potential signing.

However, Celtic have snapped up Dedryck Boyata from Manchester City and senior sources at Parkhead have indicated Wilson is no longer on their wishlist.

Are we kidding ourselves if he was offered a contract with them he would think twice about it? Would he be holding out for us and another season in the championship

Yeah.

It's a no brainer that if they offered him one he'd be there in a flash.

As soon as they signed the City player it was obvious they were not going to bother.

If they had any savvy they would sign him as a backup to make life more difficult for us.

Hope he signs for us and uses this as extra motivation ( not that it should be needed) to prove them wrong and play his part in getting us back to the top of Scottish football.

Do folk on here honestly think if he had the two offers on the table from us and them he'd choose us?

If so you need your heads checked

I would.

In all seriousness though, it's not just about the dollar it's where he thinks he'll get the most game time, time to develop and which manager will bring him on the most as a player.

Exactly and perhaps he doesnt want to be of those guys to cross that divide. He has made comments in the past that suggests that.

FFS its Celtic we are talking about. Nothing special.

If both Rangers and Celtic went in for Wilson I think he'd move to Celtic. They can offer him top-tier football and a crack at Europe next season. If he's dropping back in to the Championship to join us that's great but let's not kid ourselves.
