If the point of the program is simply to produce good enough youngsters so we get a development fee at 18 years old then fair enough but the what good does that do the first team. But not every player that's any good leaves. It doesn't work like that.
Rangersfansmediawatch 1,055
Chelsea have 38 players out on loan,Gilmour would just be another who would play perhaps in the youths for a while and then loaned out,Chelsea also have some very good young players who can't get near the first team. Gilmour would be making a huge mistake going to Chelsea, Given also that he has been at Rangers for years and everything the club has done for him, It would be better if he signed a pro contract when he turns 16 and at least get Rangers a lot more than they would now if he went before he turns 16. I seen the exact same thing about Robert Fleck and how he was the new Rooney and the same term was used about him being a wonderkid. Gilmour is a decent player for his age and does pretty well in the 20's when he plays, But claims of him being a "superstar" or "wonderkid" is just over egging it. If he goes to Chelsea he will just be another young player lost in the sea of other players out on loan and will just bounce around loan clubs. If Rangers played it cute and had a think about it they could do this, Give him a pro contract,Get's money into the club and if the club were even cuter part of the deal could be asking for one of the Chelsea players like Musonda or Chalobah on loan that would add quality to our team. The young lad has some very big decisions to make and hope he isn't being swayed by the bright lights of London and the money.

We will lose any player worth anything when the English Leagues wave that big cheque book before their eyes and if they have agents they get to thinking about their 10%. All I'm saying is we have to put in place something that helps us keep them playing first team football with us for a few seasons at least. No way an EPL team will let an untried youngster near the first team when they can flash the cash and spend 10-20-30-40m on the finished article . The money will be good but his life will be shit. Easton82 44
Would be completely the wrong decision leaving us for Chelsea. Now is the best time for a youngster at Rangers as we can't go out and buy the kind of players we bought years ago. Stay with us get plenty of 1st team football improve and if u want to go to the premiership go knowing that ure going to get game for the 1st team and also getting a good transfer fee for the club that's made u the player u are! If its 10 k or 800 they still have to see out your contract If they forget how to play football they are still entitled to full pay of 10k a week for their 4 year contract. Same applies if its 800 a week. Signing a 10k a week contract at 16 would give you enough money to retire at 18 if you were careful with an investment. harlands plater 17,065
If he goes he can look forward to a glittering career at MK Dons or some pish like that once he's been discarded after a couple years as 18th in line for a first team midfield spot. Deanzmeanzheinz 4,312
Honestly, if he has any sense he should stay at Rangers. He is fzr more likely to see top team action, play in european games and against Sellick. He can stay at home amongst his family and friends and when hes 20-21 you reassess it look to Tierney over at the Knew Camp. Hes in a good position and hes 19-20 Thats the template

bluenose48 953
Hope he stays put. If he goes to any of the big EPL clubs he will be lost in a pool of young players who end up out on their arse after a couple of years.
