Lack of the Counter...?

The problem being that most teams have stuck 10 men behind the ball, so no possability of a counter attack.

This is very true, especially the lesser or more cautious teams.

However, my point is these teams still win corners or dangerous free kicks, and if we regain possession at these times we never react quick enough to capitalise on them being out of position

Most of the time it's a problem we bring on ourselves. If we're quicker getting the ball into the midfield and players being willing to turn and look for the run forward or pass forward we can take 3/4 opposition players out the game quickly,

What we do is wait 20-30 seconds and allow them to get everyone back in their positions, back in a defensive block to give us no room.

Unfortunately the ability to be an effective goal-scoring side in attack of any nature is sadly missing from the Rangers teams that Warburton produces.  He has not been able to produce sides which regularly and meaningfully threaten the opposition goal.   Too often the opposition goalkeepers go untested for large portions of games.    Warburton's team selections, tactics, coaching and leadership do not lend themselves to the side being good in any form of attack.   The evidence has been before us and it has not been improving.

An event has occurred in the form of Warburton's coaching, management and leadership of the side which is not necessarily to our advantage.     He does not appear to be able to transform the team into the winners a Rangers team needs to be.

Spot on, it's a big factor in why we're hopeless against any half decent side. You just can't expect to control the game at all times like we seem to want to. Against a decent opponent it's going to be a game of spells and there has to be a bit of give and take - even the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern are happy to step back and soak up some pressure at times.

I'd bet we haven't done a single counter attacking drill in training since Warburton got here, that's how bad we are at it.

the ball is 9 times out of 10 passed sideways instead of forward.

It's not just Wes,  every single player seems to be unable to simply pass a ball in front of their man instead of them having to stop or run back to get it. Completely slows our attack down. There seems to be no flow to our attacks because our passing is abysmal

Spot on, the few times one of our players does make a lung bursting off the ball run and it ends up back with Hill ?

There was an example of this against Ross County at the weekend: Wallace had the ball close to their 3rd and Hyndman made an excellent run towards the wing creating about 20yards of space around him. Instead of trying to dink the ball over to Hyndman, Wallace decided to turn and play it back to Hill.

Fucking infuriating.

It seems so long ago now but under Warburton we did in fact at one time use to move the ball quickly and could punish times with some slick passing that was effective and entertaining to watch. This style seemed to evaporate though after we put them to the sword in the semi-final. Why should this be? Surely this can only be down to the manager's instructions?

Even if we are playing more "European battle-hardened teams like Aberdeen and Hearts"......jeez what a load of crap.

In a roundabout way you've made a decent point.

Warburtons style isnt suited against teams that dig in.

All our succesfull managers, Smith, Advocaat, and Mcleish (to an extent), built strong defences and the rest of the team was sheer power. Able to pound teams into submission.
