It's actually really hard to find any £80m+ signing in football that can be considered a success.

The failure rate of them is unreal.

Depends on what you consider a success. Kane and Rice this season have both been really good signings with the possibility of 0 trophies between them.

Mbappe, Neymar, Van Dijk, Suarez surely?

Bale and Ronaldo??

Kane and Bellingham will be as well.

Tbf - this season is probably the first in a while there could be 3 successful ones (Bellingham, Kane, Rice) but looking at the list below you could probably consider Felix, Fernandez, Coutinho, Griezmann, Caicedo, Lukaku, Dembele, Pogba, Hazard, Antony and Maguire all to have failed, at least so far. Grealish questionable given the money involved.

Considering the huge sums you're spending, you would expect the hit rate to be much better than that.

Said it in the English thread a while ago, but Chelsea’s history of ‘big’ money signings is hilariously bad.

Yeah it is truly mental when you look down the list of biggest fees. There's more flops than successes and the jury still very much out on most of the recent ones (Rice, Kane and Bellingham aside).

Yeah especially strikers.

Who manages to sign the likes of Crespo, Shevchenko, Torres and Lukaku at their peak and make them all rubbish?

Chelsea's list of flop strikers is hilarious and never ending. Morata, Higuian, Falcao, Pato, Aubameyang, Kezman and Mutu.

Quite ironic their best striker ever arrived as a relatively unknown with only a handful of decent seasons in European football under his belt.

Most of their under the radar signing that were overshadowed by the big money ones were there best and some of the best in Europe at the time.

Cech, Drogba, Robben, Carvalho, Lampard and Gudjohnston.

They could have signed Ronaldo in his prime and he'd have flopped. Last decent striker they had since Drogba was Costa and he was a head case.

Marco Reus's last ever game for Dortmund being at Wembley in the Champions League final is the stuff of dreams.

What a way to go out if they win it.

Bellingham slaying his old team.

Think it's a stick on for him to score if they make it.
