. . to explain this calamitous situation except an ex player who works for a two bit radio station in the west of Scotland and some other character on the phone to worldwide Sky Sports television? Absolute embarrassing shambles!

Is he speaking in an official capacity or as a pundit?

As a pundit, of course.

We sacked MW by releasing a statement. Same way Man U sacked Moyes. Same as Everton sacked Martinez. Same way most clubs do.

But apparently, if we don't have a Board member in front of a camera immediately it's a disgrace.

Agree, thats what i am getting at.

I dont agree with how it has surfaced but i don't expect that we release it and send someone out to the hordes immediately.

Id release it, wait until it sinks in people calm and then address it publicly.

Agree we don't need any board member to clarify the official statement, but surely our "official spokesman " needs to tell the supporters what we should do next.

What do you want to do next. Keep calm and go to the game on Sunday.

They knew they couldn't let Warburton be in charge on Sunday under these circumstances so have acted decisively and will now retreat until the legalities are finalised.  Meanwhile Warburton has been caught off guard and hopefully goes out gracefully. If however he decides to fight I'm afraid his credibility will sadly suffer .

I thought that Warburton resigned, without any financial penalties to either side?

They then tried to back track, but the board had already accepted their resignation...

Why let him take the practice session and then the prematch press conference? He should have been packing up his office, not having him sit in front of the media.

Likely required time to consider their options, until they reached a decision MW was still the manager and therefore was doing his job.

Ok so he carries on taking the training sessions but to let him go in front of the cameras was insane. Considering the teams form of late he was always going to be asked questions regarding his future at the club.

This will go to court or we will settle. There can't be any letter of resignation or Warburton would not have claimed that he didn't resign. Depends how stubborn he is, and how much he demands. Probably seen as the best option by the board to clear the decks and give the new man time. It's also very possible/likely that we have our man lined up, and (with cautious optimism) it is someone who will unite the support immediately, someone who is to be trusted with increased funding.

A little bit of mess, but surgical in terms of speed and impact.

Don't think it is. The board put a clear statement out that was in no way ambiguous.   Anything else would sound like they were wee gossip merchants - that then would be embarrassing.

The rest of the story should be up to the yo yo boys, let them explain not a board of directors.

No need for someone from the board to be in front of the cameras. There might be some legal/financial implications and a wrong word or two under media questioning could prove very expensive. It would be good to hear from Club 1872 giving the fans opinion. This is one of the things I expected them to do

Given the 'is it true?, it isn't true, the website's been hacked' nature of the situation, along with Warburton's denial of what's been put out as the official club line, a 'clarification' wouldn't hurt.

It's ok folk quoting what happened when all these others got sacked - as far as I know, none of them turned round & denied what had gone on!

Mind you, Warburton's been 'in denial' for a while now.....
