Yes, it would be at the board's discretion.

That is unsatisfactory and open to bias.

Frankly I don’t care what happens as long as celtic aren’t just handed the title like they want.

I guarantee if we were ahead after x games next season, whenever that is, and Covid-20 struck they would suddenly have a ‘sporting integrity’ moment and not want us handed the league.

Doesn't matter if it's unsatisfactory. All clubs signed up to it and we have our chief exec sitting on the board who approved it.

Coming in here with all your big words with nothing positive to say.

Should we all be positive there's nae football for six months now and the club is going to face some real financial difficulties over the coming months?

Or should we be positive that our best European run in a decade has been halted with no sign of restarting?

I mean it's easy to see why folk are absolutely buzzing just now. 🙄

Because the SPFL Will go on their current rulebook not the SOSFL's from 2000/2001.

All of rule c38.

"The Club occupying position one in the League at the end of a Season shall be declared the Champion Club of the League and shall hold the "The Scottish Professional Football League Championship Trophy" until the next Season's League Competition is concluded. When the winner of The Scottish Professional Football League Championship trophy has been ascertained, the Trophy shall be handed over to the winner who shall return the same to the Company at the League Office not later than3 weeks prior to the end of the next following Season, in good order and condition and in any event as soon as reasonably practicable following a request from the Board. It shall be the responsibility of the winning Club to arrange appropriate insurance cover for each trophy throughout the period when it is held by the Club."

Rule 38 relates to winner at the end of the season. Rule c13 states clubs shall play 38 games in a season.

A season is defined as a period of the year between the date of the first and date of the last games of that season, unless otherwise dictated by the Board.

The above para applied to this term is the period from may 3rd 2019 to 16/17 May 2020. The board can change these dates as they dictate.

No reduction of matches mentioned in that definition.

And if the absurd notion that it did reflect a reduction in games then that would be entirely illogical in the c13 rule that 38 games will be played in the season.

Clubs will play 38 games in a season of 30 games? Nonsense and illogical. At best its trying to manipulate wording to fit what is a preferred outcome rather than what rules state.

So it’s ok to give the Scum the title but we aren’t going to relegate anyone. 😂😂

And suddenly The Dude is telling us it doesn’t matter if the outcome is unsatisfactory as that’s just the way it is.

Just the way it is should be a complete Null & Void of the entire no matter how unsatisfactory it is for anyone.

No, they use general language which can be used in varying circumstances.

Or “they can make it up as they go along” to put it another way.

Which, by your logic, renders the whole rule book pointless, does it not?

I appreciate that there has to be a catch all clause for the unexpected but there is no point in writing “the season is 38 games” if they can just disregard it for the benefit of a single club.

There is no point in even resuming the game if corruption as blatant as that takes place.

Regardless, the SPFL is a limited company and if the board make a decision which is unfairly prejudicial to the interests of any of its members then those members can bring legal action. There are a number of members who would be in that boat - those who are relegated in particular but also those who are deprived of increased prize pots for league placing and/or European qualification.

They would be opening a huge can of worms in doing that.

Anyone that thinks Hearts will accept relegation in March without a legal challenge is deluded.

Give the league to the scum but no medals, no trophy and an asterisk in the history book, 9 for them starts next season.

They count war time titles when no other club here did so thinking they wouldn't count this one is simply not going to happen.

And the Champion club is the one with most points at the end of the Season.

The season will officially be declared over shortly. celtic will have the most points at the end of said Season.

Tell me, what circumstances would the SPFL have that aren't already covered in the existing rules (playoffs, one-title decider after teams finish level) would they need to alter the end of the season to a different time than after the final league game?

You couldn’t make this shite up.

I think if other big leagues do it like the EPL look like doing then other Leagues will simply follow suit to avoid a huge backlash.

Regardless the guys who rule over Scottish football are tarriers, we saw that back in 2012. There not a chance they won't be getting the title

How many wins are the filth away from it, assuming we win all our games?  Am I right in thinking we’d be 4 behind if we win games against them and in hand?

They haven't made it up as theyve gone along though.

The season is 38 games in normal circumstances but as you've noticed, we're not in normal circumstances and the board need to have some sort of mechanism to end the season otherwise it'll just run on until such time as all games are completed - whenver that will be.

It's hardly corruption and is quite likely to be how most will end up deciding their domestic titles.

What if they try to fudge it by handing the title to celtic and having an expanded SPFL next year?

There's no chance Sky are allowing that to happen. They've already lost two Old Firms this season they're not going to roll over and give up two next year as well.

And the season entails 38 games without which it doesn't end. Or it does but is nul and void.

The definition relates to dates of the first and last fixture. These are published in advance. It's only right the Board can dictate changes to those fixture dates. In todays scenario, they're just about to. Thats why the rule is there. Nothing, but nothing, mentions reducing numberscif games, which c13 states is 38.

You could use the same argument about the 2 OF they are about to lose for this season as an excuse not to simply hand the filth the title.

I’m sure the split could be adjusted to accommodate the 2 extra OF games. Yes, teams would complain about losing on OF game x 2 but these are extreme circumstances.

No matter which way you slice it there are parties who are going to be unhappy with whatever decision.

It doesn't relate to the specific dates. There's no cast-iron dates enforced in the rulebook.

Nothing mentions null and void either. Literally no rule gives the board the power to declare the competition null and void but it appears you want to have it both ways.
