BlueSuedeSambas 53,854 Posted March 10, 2023 Share Posted March 10, 2023 He will turn 30 and also enter the final year of his Spurs deal come the Summer and there’s debate on various podcasts, discussion shows and whatnot about whether he should leave Spurs and how much Spurs would be looking for, with the general consensus seemingly being that Spurs would still want £100 million for him. Do you think he’s worth that? On the one hand it’s a massive outlay for a player who isn’t going to get any better and who isn’t going to provide any return, at least in terms of potential sell on value, and that’s the model that most clubs (even the big ones) look at these days. On the other hand you are getting a player who basically guarantees goals and who could easily prove to be the difference between say a Man Utd realistically challenging for the league, or staying in a constant battle to finish third or fourth again. With the money involved in football now, is £100 million really that big of a price to pay for somebody who could still be a difference maker for 3-4 years? He gets the numbers though and thats what teams will be paying for. £100m is a bit much for me.
