Also, every Premiership team that was in the league when Celtic won it get a quarter million.

If we get 250,000 would it not be a great gesture of giving the money to charity

They gambled big time for this group stage and it paid off this time. They wont suddenly go throwing money around now.

As the manager would say. We have no effect on what goes over there. We just focus on ourselves. If anything that game showed just how over-hyped they were and we have more than enough to scud them.

the group stage prize money is a base fee.

As of 2015–16, UEFA awards €2 million to the play-offs winners and €3 million to the eliminated clubs in the play-off round. For reaching the group stage, UEFA awards a base fee of €12 million. A win in the groups is awarded with €1.5 million and a draw is worth €500,000. In addition, UEFA pays teams reaching the first knockout round €5.5 million, each quarter-finalist €6 million, €7 million for each semi-finalist, €10.5 million for the runners-up and €15 million for the winners.[58]

First Qualifying Round: €200,000

Second Qualifying Round: €300,000

Third Qualifying Round: €400,000

Play-offs Eliminated: €3,000,000

Play-offs Winners: €2,000,000

Base fee for group stage: €12,000,000

Group match victory: €1,500,000

Group match draw: €500,000

Round of 16: €5,500,000

Quarter-finals: €6,000,000

Semi-finals: €7,000,000

Losing finalist: €10,500,000

Winning the Final: €15,000,000

A large part of the distributed revenue from the UEFA Champions League is linked to the "market pool", the distribution of which is determined by the value of the television market in each country. For the 2014–15 season, Juventus, who were the runners-up, earned nearly €89.1 million in total, of which €30.9 million was prize money, compared with the €61.0 million earned by Barcelona, who won the tournament and were awarded €36.4 million in prize money.[59]

Who fucking cares how much they get its all going to plug gaps in their finances.

Uncle Dermott may be paying Brendas wages but he sure as fuck isn't ponying up to fix the mess the chink has landed them in.

Yup the base fee is tv revenue as teams cannot sell the rights themselves, the guaranteed fee is the TV pot

Both the record and the sun have it as 22mill today

The example they give about juve and barca is what happened when us and the tarriers both made the group stages, our money was halved, barca got less because 3 spanish teams were in the group stages while only one italian team were in it (if memory serves me right)

Just checked this, true goes to united, I thought someone was winding me up....

According to what was said on sky sports news, it goes to the teams in the premier league this season to cover any financial loss caused by re-arranging games to accommodate the champions league games.

"Celtic back where they belong" is all I seem to be reading. You'd think there was a big gaping whole without them in the Champions League and teams like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich were really struggling to attract fans because Celtic weren't in the Champions League

Every group has a team that the other 3 look at and think "Easy 6 points" and Celtic will be that team. I hope the £10m is worth it when they walk away with heavy hammerings most games. They couldn't really have asked for a better route to the group stages yet still made it very difficult and rode their luck, they're going to be humiliated.

I'd take the money if it meant hammerings tbh.

They don't give a fuck about the results it's all about getting the cash these days.

Yeah, it stretches them out more and they'll likely shift their focus to that. Since they'll likely get more money out of it.

for the clubs benefit aye, but as a fan id hate to be scudded 6 times in the group stages, the season with unirea was utterly demoralising as a fan even if the club banked nearly 20million quid

They are a bang average side but are hyped up by a media full of tims. For them to actually celebrate last night as if they had won the trophy is embarrassing, and Brenda taking a bow in front of fans is almost delia level
