While i don't doubt that fleck deserves a chance I can't help but wonder if this is an attempt to develop a bit of positive feeling among our fans?

Have to say the thought had crossed my mind.

Bit too cynical for me haha, lose lose isnt it for Walter

How is it lose lose?

If he plays, we are a better team

If he doesnt, we are a worse team

Its a no brainer

Its win win really. He will get the fans behind him for playing Fleck in an important game, and our team will ultimately be improved with him in the side. Even if Fleck has a bad game, Walter will still get praise for giving him his chance.

Based on the original point I replied to, the exact opposite would happen!

He gets slated for NOT playing young players,

and, if he plays him, its to "keep us quite"

If Walter played Fleck and sold Boyd.

I would be ecstatic, dont care if its to keep us quiet

So Walter doesn't play Fleck & the posts are "He will NEVER give youth a chance" .... now there is the very good chance he will play Fleck & we get posts like "Just playing him to shut us up".

Personally, i am glad to see him getting a chance, no matter how it comes around, hipefully he will grab it & show the coaching staff he deserves to be in the team.

If Fleck is given a chance I hope it is in his correct position of just behind the strikers.

Not out left where he may get marked out of the game with our tactics of hoof it as far up the park as possible.

Now Fleck could be given the chance to show what he can do in one of the forthcoming matches against the likes of Falkirk, Aberdeen, Dundee United or Forfar Athletic.

So he'll start against Forfar i take it, juicy. DBBTB got it in one for me.

Good, he is the first player from the youth lads that should get the chance, before Aaron and anyone else that matter.

Then, after that McMillan because we are crying out for a good RB

Aaron has been more impressive than Fleck over the past few months.

How long was Fleck out for? I've only read good things about his reserve performance since he's come back from his injury.

Personally, I'd love to see both of them get more run outs.

So.... Why was he only given 10 minutes at St Johnstone?

He hasn't featured since last season, gets ten minutes and suddenly he is going to get a start?

Erm...I doubt it to be honest.

A few more 5 minutes....maybe.

Or just maybe Smith is staying true to his own counsel on players. As Smith says - if he is GOOD enough he is old enough - and just maybe he is GOOD enough!
