Manderson, a right-back, made his Rangers debut in a 1-1 draw with the sheep on 27 March 1915. He had joined Rangers from Glenavon for £150.

Good lad. (tu)

As for the whole Ireland thing, the two countries (NI and down south) had one football association, the IFA, and one team, Ireland, until the FAI was formed and broke away to form the ROI team some time in the 1950s. The Ireland team was an IFA team, so has more of a link to the modern Northern Ireland team than the modern ROI granny rule team.

The ROI didn't come into being until 1949.Is correct that the IFA is the original National Assoc but the ROI teams opted out in the 50's.George Best, at 17, debut game was for 'Ireland'(according to the BBC footage) was V Scotland at Windsor, which 'Ireland' won 1-0.

So when they talk about making a team for the whole island, the ROI would have to re-join the IFA,lol. :7325:

Raman from STV did say he's the 1st player if he signs to have played for Rangers in the modern era from the republic.

What the fuck is even the need to say this? It's just shit stirring from that fanny, why feel the need to mention that he will be the first player from there to play for us in the modern era? It unnecessarily creates a bigotry problem where there was none.

The standard of journalism is embarassing at times and see if people really want to target bigotry maybe they should focus their attention on these fuds.

It works both ways. A ROI catholic would not want to sign for rangers as the backlash his family would receive back in Ireland would be terrible, from his own kind! As most of them hate us of course, he would be seen as some sort of traitor in their sick little eyes

Always seems to be the fault of rangers when this comes up.

Fucking works both ways, if they didn't have such a deep hatred of us then I'm sure it would have happened long before now
