Liverpool goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux has been sent back from a loan spell at Swindon Town after turning up late for training and paying his fine in pennies.

The 21-year-old signed for Liverpool from Tottenham last year and had been doing well for Swindon after being sent out by Brendan Rodgers to gain experience on a season loan.

However, after turning up late for training last week, Vigouroux was told he would be fined £50.

He was spoken to by manager Mark Cooper and senior players about his attitude but Sportsmail understands he then turned up with his fine in bank bags full of pennies.

Swindon boss Cooper is already working with a small squad and is keen to ensure discipline remains high in the group. He would only confirm: 'It's a disciplinary internal matter. It's come from me and the rest of the players. It won't (cause an issue now) it's been dealt with.'

Vigouroux was put on the bench for last Saturday's defeat by Colchester and was replaced by Ty Belford who, as their only senior keeper, is likely to start against Doncaster on Tuesday.

Swindon's troubles have been compounded by a hamstring injury to striker Wes Thomas which rules him out for a month.

When you compare this attitude to the boys we have brought in,it's night and day.

Probably thought he was hilarious doing it but all he has done is made himself look like a wee prick.

I suspect Swindon took it to the press to let the world know what a wee prick he is,serves him right.
