3 Little Words

It was more, much more than just sheer panic. Panic is fleeting but not this, no, this was a slow, and painful realisation that as the prophets had warned, "all things must come to pass". It was ominous, akin to an approaching thunderstorm, the distant peels of thunder sounding like a gong warning of foreboding. And the air, the air was pungent with a strange aroma invading their senses refusing them any kind of respite, forcing them reluctantly into an acceptance of the inevitable - the more astute amongst them recognised it, but dare not speak its name. It was the smell of fear.

Then one of them did the unthinkable, took a journey into land of the forbidden, uttering the three little words which sent waves of anxiety through them all.

“Rangers are coming”

And indeed we are. The chains which bound us to our Elbaesque exile in Scotland's lower leagues have been shattered and broken, along with the schemes and plots designed to leave us in the wilderness. It was not a thirst for glory nor prestige which broke the yoke that bound us, but an unstinting sense of loyalty and commitment to a football club – it proved to be a characteristic of the Rangers support which our enemies could not overcome. In the years to come the Rangers support of this generation will be recorded as some of the club's greatest servants. Ever.

It's not hard to de-cipher that we are on our way back. The inflammatory language has been re-kindled, along with the almost obligatory “conspiracy theories”. Irrational comment has replaced sensible discussion, Rangers are being blamed and held responsible for the decisions made by others . As Dundee United and Aberdeen supporters organise a boycott of Ibrox food stalls for their forthcoming visits, we Rangers fans wait for the media proponents of “Forgive, forget and move on” to lecture others the way they lectured us. I suspect we will be waiting for a long time.

I also suspect that being merciful or magnanimous will no longer be part of our make up – we have not forgotten those who swung a kick whilst we were down. Dundee United experienced it with the Tannadice boycott, and as they ran squealing to the SFA about our club refusing tickets a rude awakening awaited them. Football authorities can do nothing about how our support choose to spend the blue pound. Only we control that. It's a fact worthy of more considered thought.

It has been a long and arduous journey at times, which of course is not yet completed, but we are well on our way. Along the road there have been fall outs, rifts and unpleasantry. But even these pale into significance at the sense of unity, the sense of purpose in restoring our club. Even that which is less edifying has at it's heart the same passion which drives our support to achieve what others would consider impossible. We should all rejoice in that passion we share - our club exists because of it.

For those for whom these 3 little words are unpalatable, I will say them again. “Rangers are coming”. Along with 3 more little words.

“Hell mend you”

good article D'art but the sentiment is lost on me right now. We have a board who are silent on matters where we are openly attacked (liewells comments at the scums AGM as one example) and I have never felt our support to be so separated and factioned as I do now. We need a banner to rally under, we need leadership and we need to have a future to look forward to. At the moment we hang on the outcome of a 120 day review and the ensuing fallout that may come from it and the hope that it outlines our destiny back to the top. By the end of next season we need the board to lead the charge, and the fans to stand together behind them and turn on the enemies that cast us down and claim vengeance on them rather than assume fault on those who are trying to lead us back to glory.

I see it differently Brian - that despite the genuine concerns you have raised and the problems they create - we have still overcome.

Used to think like that but we haven't silenced a single detractor of note. Can't recall one retraction of note either. Clyde one, daily record and BBC Scotland are all still going and none of them seem to care what we say. We couldn't even arrange a mass protest after a home game at the BBC building round the corner, after they depicted the death of our manager before a televised game, couldnt even get a proper appology never mind make their knees tremble from fear of retaliation.

The BBC edit Mccoists interview to make out mccoist is a bigot and they don't even fear us enough when caught to sack the guy responsible even when he is employed in a low position.

Find it hard to believe anyone fears us ,they certainly don't act worried. The support is not only fractured ,now it actively hates each other weakening us further.

The only place they fear us is on the park, without massive funding it will be a long way down the road before we have a team even remotely capable of instilling fear in the opposition.

If we can't unite to run the club in its best interests how could we possibly unite to defend it?

Chairmen of the other clubs seem more than happy to take pot shots at us with no fear of losing the blue pound. Even the SFA don't give a fuck what we say even though we make up the majority of paying customers they openly show nothing but distain for us. We marched to their door 10000 strong, did they even comment? Can't recall anything changing or attitudes softening towards us.

Until the day comes our support unite under one banner in protection of our club and nothing else nothing will change.

All the teams in the top league will only gain with us back. The small teams are used to winning fuck all so makes no difference to them if its us or them that win they will fill their coffers further. Milne and co will be rubbing their little hands with glee at the thought of all that extra cash. None of them bar the manky lot have any ambition in a sporting sense we beat that out them along time ago. Fuck me the teams we play right now don't even fear us!

Don't think there is another set of fans in the world who would allow such attacks to happen with such impunity.

We are the most loyal and resilient fans in the world we follow our team no matter where they play or the circumstances we find ourselves in,but we are not feared ,just hated.
