    I wouldn't sign Shankland now.

Wanting Shankland in was very much a product of the circumstances of the time. We needed somebody in January to come in, understand the league, understand the job required and - most importantly - have the best possible chance of hitting the ground running. Shankland and maybe Miovski were the only 2 players who fitted that mould, and IMHO Shankland was most likely to fulfill that role.

Lack of goal threat, due to injury and personnel has been maybe the main reason we look to have blown the league. Dessers being unreliable and having no serious competition is part of that.

However, time moves on and the Shankland ship has sailed. We don't need him now.

Given it is a summer window, and we have the luxury of some time with going into a new season - there will be better options out there, and for better value.

Always felt like Shankland was a 'now or never' signing in Jan.

Our other strikers don’t even get the chances to miss.

Danilo was the same at the start of the season. Some absolute howlers.

Seemed to be a lot better at just having the ball at his feet than Dessers though.

100% need a quality starting striker in the summer once Roofe and (I hope) Dessers leave.

No signing shankland was such a fuckin glaringly obvious fuck up to everyone bar our idiots in charge

100% believe the conversation would've been had with Hearts but I genuinely don't think we could afford him in January.

We put a fair bit down on the wages for Silva. The other 2 deals being loans with options to buy in the summer were telling.

I’ve just read this on FF, I’ve not fact checked it as im too busy the now but this is concerning imo

“With Genk he didn't win in the final 3 matches and won the title on the final day with a draw.

First year with Brugge the league was stopped after 29 games and Brugge awarded the title

2nd year with Brugge he won 1 of the last 6 games in the play offs.

Then there is the end of the season with Monaco.

It was a concern of mine prior to his appointment but was shot down for suggesting it was maybe a red flag”.

I wouldn't buy into those types of things. Very different circumstances in comparison to our league. The belgian league is particularly weird with its play off. Points totals get halved and rounded up. They finished the normal season 7 points ahead before the split.

You could spin things positively by saying he won Genk their first title in 8 years whilst being a relative outsider for a league win.

People tend to start erratically pointing the finger at everyone when we go through a bad spell.

The manager is not part of the fundamental problems with this club.

If we're kidding ourselves on, what's the bloody point?

Exactly the guy is 32, and declining.

If I'm still having to talk about him going into next season, it's fucking insanity mate.

Agree that we need to start looking at watering his minutes down, but can almost guarantee that he won't be gone in the summer.

People are already consoling themselves "Ach we won't get rid of Tav, but this and that and that's fine"

Any rebuild, if Tav's still here and still captain, then it's groundhog day and pointless.

If we are rebuilding, should be entirely, his position too.

Anyone thinking he won't be here next season is kidding themselves on. 32 and 2 years left on his contract.

Maybe Gerrard will come in for him, but not sure if he would even want to leave.

  7. GK - Butland is fine. Keep

RB - Tav 100% won't be going anywhere whether we like it or not. Scores goals and drags us through games at times but needs better players in front of him. Keep.

CB - Goldson. Times up. He's good when he wants to be but a fragile mentality in the face of pressure. Get rid.

CB - Souttar is good enough IMO. Play him on the right side and sign a left sided player to accompany. Keep.

LB - Ridvan. Has come onto a game. Far more positive than Barisic. Fitness issues though. Always seems to get injured. Would sign a solid cover for LB. Keep.

CM - Lundstram. Flashes of being good in between long spells of being absolutely bang average. Moves around with zero urgency and plays like he's dragging a ball and chain behind him. Get rid.

CM - Diomande. Already good enough for us with a high ceiling. Keep.

CAM - Cantwell. Great player, but needs better around him. Keep.

LW - Silva. Blows hot and cold. Will never be good enough for us to justify what Wolves would want. Get rid.

ST - Dessers. Less said the better. Get rid.

RW - Sima. Keep if possible.

Others who should be shipped out at the earliest opportunity: Barisic, Jack, Dowell, Roofe, Matondo, Davies, Lawrence.

  8. Out of all the issues in our squad, he's by far the biggest. Scores some goals, aye. But the gilt-edged chances that he passes up time and time again (especially at crucial moments) is fucking diabolical.

Cannot wait to see the back of him.

Quite incredible we've managed to last this long into the season with him as our main striker.
