Bluepeter9 reacted to johanhentze in Why hasn't Gerrard targeted a midfielder who can shoot?
Aribo scored one from outside the box and came very close a few times. Ojo scored from outside the box and came very close a few times.
Both new additions.

I just care about our club a lot more than you.
The overwhelming majority of our support were incredible on Sunday. A few muppets decided to wreck a disabled shelter and invade the pitch, overshadowing how good our support was that day. The minority made our club look bad on Sunday, and the club needs to make an example of them to show that behaviour is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Personally I don't like our clubs reputation being tarnished by the few that can't control themselves. Clearly you don't mind our clubs reputation being tarnished, which says a lot about you tbh.

Won't happen if we all just agree that we should be raging about absolutely everything.

You’re right. Let’s just keep it limited to the first 20 members who joined and tae fuck with any new blood and their troublesome opinions.

A good last minute winning goal is one of my favourite things in football.

Bluepeter9 reacted to Goianegra in Middleton to Hibs? Wtf
It leaves a bad taste in the mouth, but if you look at it from a tactical and footballing point of view, as opposed to the "fuck Hibs" one everyone seems to be going for, it probably is a better move all round.

Window doesn’t close for 4 weeks yet!
So far a good if not stunning start. No need to panic yet.

Bluepeter9 reacted to Blue Nosed Babe in A positive Rangers fan story
Rangers Fan Lewis McInness walked 400 miles from Glasgow to London raising money for Help for Heroes and Mental health UK.
He wanted to join the Army but could not due to mental health issues.
Good for him!

Bluepeter9 got a reaction from TartanTeddy in Rangers inviting SNP politicians to Ibrox
Some people don't even seem to have noticed that UK politics has shifted radically to the right over the last four decades and the pace of shift is accelerating daily!.
Nowadays if you call for decent workers' wages, or public ownership of vital infrastructure and services, or a functional social safety net to protect vulnerable people and those who have fallen on hard times, you get derided as if you're some kind of frighteningly radical far-left extremist. When did it suddenly become scary hard-left extremism to believe that all WORKERS should earn at least enough to provide for their families? Or that British infrastructure should be run by our Government and not corp orates or whats worse (like Rail) other governments NATIONAL companies! Why is it wrong to expect that sick and disabled people should be treated with some dignity and respect? or Why do we not see that health care and education are to our benefit and not commodities to be traded by the rich?
Back before the birth of the neoliberal orthodoxy of Thatcher back in 1979 these thoughts would have been considered normal, common sense, even "centrist".
Bring on independence and help stop this shift to the right!
Anyway - Any football on tonight?

Bluepeter9 got a reaction from pensionerbear in New Record blog
I can see it being tougher than folks think. It's easy to get carried away on a wave of optimism as we have strengthened but nothing is guaranteed. If we have learned anything, it should be that the path to 55 is never smooth. I get that we 'want' 55, and there's no doubt that you are correct that will be easier if we retain Tav and Alfredo but we need to see how the team blends and settles in the real competitive games. I hope your assertion we 'will' win 55 is correct, (oh PLEASE BE TRUE) but lets realise we will have to fight tooth and nail for it.

Bluepeter9 reacted to Reformation Bear in Is that our spending completed for this window?
I don't think it would be the best course of action for Rangers if the attempt is made to have a trophy winning season (preferably a league title winning season) with just 2 main proven strikers (Morelos and Defoe).
One is prone to being sent off a lot and has still to prove that he's a reformed and reliable character (point being he is a risk as far as keeping 11 players on the pitch). The other is 36 years old and will turn 37 during the course of this season. I don't think it would feasible for Defoe to put in a goal scoring (game winning) shift game after game even it its coming on as a sub for an entire season. Both may pick up suspensions or injuries or both, or have a dip in form. In which case who are the quality replacement strikers? Stewart? I don't think so.
Whether or not Morelos goes at least one more striker of reasonably proven quality is needed. Failure to sign one would, imo, materially weaken the ability to win any sort of trophy this season. If Morelos goes then there is no doubt a replacement of reasonably comparable quality would be needed immediately. And accompanied by at least one more quality striker.
A near worst case scenario would be if - despite Gerrard's attempts to condition clubs to the contrary - a big enough bid arrives for Morelos at the virtual tail end of the transfer window leaving Rangers with not enough time (and maybe not enough money) to go get a suitable replacement. In which case the bulk of the goal scoring burden falls on a 37 year old plus Stewart plus whoever is promoted from the reserves or a 'make do' signing who is nowhere near the quality of Morelos. If that's what we ended up going into the season with then the pre-season optimism bubble could be very vulnerable to being burst.
